ITV Tipping Point viewers were left on the edge of their seats as one contestant’s major risk paid off.
During Monday’s episode of the ITV hit game show, host Ben was back on our TV screens and was joined by three new hopeful contestants wanting to win some big cash.
Hoping to go home with the huge cash prize was bomb broker Darren from North London, train guard Helen from Worcester and Jim, retired Royal Mail manager.
After an intense game between the trio it was Darren who managed to make it all the way to the final with £3,600 in his prize pot.
It didn’t take long for Ben to ask Darren if he was willing to sacrifice his winnings for a chance to go home with the £10k jackpot.
He went on to say: “I’m going to offer you a chance to leave today with £10k. As things stand you got £3,600 and you can walk away with the money right now and trade it for the counters to put into the machine.”
Ben reminded Darren that if he chooses to take the trade but loses then you will go home with nothing. Darren took a daring leap of faith and gambled his money for three extra counters and a chance to win the jackpot as he explained that he wanted to take his wife on a romantic honeymoon.
He also explained: “I’ve always said that if I make it this far I would take the risk and go for the big money so I’m going to take the trade.”
Darren chose to use his counters on drop zone 4 but at first things were off to a slow start and during his first round he didn’t manage to drop any counters prompting him to say: “No you must be kidding me.”
However things soon picked up and after a nail biting moment, the risk paid off for Darren and he ended up winning the £10k.
In disbelief, Darren went straight to Ben and gave him a hug and said: “Wow there is no way, that is unbelievable. It was a nail biter.”
Ben had a huge smile as he asked what he was going to do with the money. Darren explained: “This is great. It means I can go on a lovely honeymoon and not worry about it, enjoy some relaxation and a few drinks at the bar.”
It didn’t take long for viewers to rush straight to social media to share their reaction. One viewer Tweeted: “And I can breathe again, that was intense, well done Darren!*! #TippingPoint.”
Another said: “Yay Darren #TippingPoint So pleased for you mate, have a fab honeymoon with Mrs Darren.”
Meanwhile one added: “I was on the edge of my seat then! Well played Darren #tippingpoint.”
