Top comedian reveals why he’d turn down CBB – despite making a good housemate

Comedian Bill Bailey would not be up for joining the Celebrity Big Brother house – and here’s why…

The TV funnyman claimed he would make a good housemate but just wouldn’t fancy joining the madhouse. Bill spoke exclusively to the Daily Star as he promoted the National Lottery Week’s new campaign.

Bill commented: “I tend to get on with most people and I’m always interested in hearing people’s stories and end up trying to figure people out. But the only trouble with the Big Brother House is you’re stuck indoors and wouldn’t be able to get out for a stroll!”

The TV star opened up about his time on Strictly Come Dancing after winning the show in 2020. Bill revealed he once took an outfit home with him from the show.

When asked if he took any outfits home with him, Bill confessed that he did. He added: “I haven’t got any spangly outfits, but I still have my Zoot suit which I wore during my Rappers Delight performance.

“I have the shirt, tie and hat – and coincidentally the brand name of the hat was a Bailey so I felt I ought to keep it. The suit was also adjusted and fitted to me, so it fits perfectly.”

Bill was partnered with Motsi Mabuse on the show and managed to win the top spot alongside the pro dancer. Talking about the show, he added: “I took Strictly on as a huge challenge, and what I realised very quickly – is that while you need to have a lot of physical rigour to practise the choreography so many times and get it into your body – what’s surprised me was the amount of concentration and mental strength you need to be able to pull the routine off on a Saturday night in front of a big TV crowd.”

The star who is set to go on a comedy tour is also been working with The National Lottery after their research showed how people feel themselves are stuck in a digital fix, with 24% of people considering scrolling through social media to be a genuine hobby. Talking about the partnership, Bill said: “When National Lottery asked me to be involved in this campaign I thought it was a great idea.

“I think it’s easy to fall into a pattern of behaviour when we have a bit of spare time and think ‘I’ll just go on my phone or watch a bit of TV’, so I think National Lottery Open Week is a great incentive to get out and about and try new things, and it resonated strongly with me.

“If you have a National Lottery ticket or Scratchcard, that’s all you need to access all of these amazing offers and unlock free or discounted entry to all the venues taking part across the UK. There are bird reserves, nature reserves and places like the Eden Project which is a fantastic day out.”

For those wanting to reduce screen time, The National Lottery, in its 30th year, is offering a host of special offers including free entry to a range of National Lottery-funded venues across the UK as part of National Lottery Open Week (9th – 17th March).
