TV dad’s harsh three-word remark to wife ‘going on strike’ in new Channel 5 reality show

A dad on the new Channel 5 telly show was gobsmacked when he discovered his missus had “gone on strike.”

The upcoming series, Mums On Strike, set to hit screens this Sunday night (July 21), will showcase two families grappling with the absence of a key family member who decides to take a breather and leave the household chaos behind.

The rest of the brood are left to fend for themselves for a week, while the ‘striking’ family member kicks back and watches the drama unfold from afar.

In the debut episode, we meet Sarah, 54, her hubby David, also 54, and their teenage son Alfie, 16. Sarah, who works part-time as a dog groomer, spills the beans on how David reckons chores are strictly “a woman’s work.”

She dishes out the dirt: “Typically I do everything in the house. David moves, occasionally, the odd cup, and tells you about it.”, reports the Mirror.

Sarah, fed up with the daily grind, explains her motive for downing tools: “I don’t want to live this life anymore that I’ve been living, cleaning, cooking, wiping everybody’s a**e for them.”

“I don’t want to do it. I want to be me,” she declares. But hubby David isn’t exactly chuffed with her decision.

In a dramatic twist, Sarah sends David and Alfie a video message, announcing: “I’m going on Strike David.” To which a flabbergasted David retorts: “On f*****g strike? ! “.

He rants further: “What? So I go to work, I pay the bills, I come home, cook my tea, do my cleaning? I don’t think so! I might as well get my own flat.”

Caught off guard by a cameraman, David retorted, “It’s a p**s take. She’s got some neck on her,” as he aimlessly wandered around the kitchen.

Later, Sarah watches her husband’s unsatisfied reaction to the news of her strike from the recorded footage. Exclaiming in disbelief, she says: “Is he having a laugh? ! I’m standing up for myself.”

The new series of Mums on Strike airs from Sunday, July 21, at 9pm on Channel 5 & My5
