Usher’s Super Bowl halftime show was called ‘a mess’ by fans who noticed a big problem. The sound wasn’t great, and it made it hard to hear Usher sing. Even with the music too loud and the mic making weird noises, things only got better when Alicia Keys came on.
One person on Twitter said: “Who tf was on SOUND CHECK? Usher mic is not IT cmon now.” Someone else wrote: “Girl this is a mess…. The sound team f***d up bad…. Usher sweatin his a** off doing nothing…. Alicia singing off key…….. nobody in the field.” Another tweeted: “so pissed @cbs #SuperBowl completely screwed up the sound! This is such a great half-time show!!! Needed it 2 be loud AF.”
Usher sang his top songs like ‘Yeah!’ and ‘Love in this Club’ at the show. Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Lil’ John were there too, but Justin Bieber didn’t show up even though people thought he would.
Reflecting on the Super Bowl prep, Usher couldn’t hide his thrill. In his words: “I’m so ready for it to happen. I just want to sing louder than I’ve ever sang; dance harder than I’ve ever danced. I want to celebrate the 30 years of this career where I’m very fortunate to have made songs and moments with people that they will remember forever.”
In addition, fans were left gutted when Justin Bieber didn’t join Usher during the performance despite several hints indicating the same.
Beliebers flooded X, previously known as Twitter, airing their disappointment since Usher only had one job. One disgruntled fan posted: “justin bieber didn’t join usher on the superbowl stage… i need a cigarette.” Another chimed in, expressing: “Everyone on Twitter when they finally realized that Usher isn’t going to bring out Justin Bieber during the Super Bowl half time show,” alongside a meme captioned, “I’ve had enough of this dude.” Pals expecting the pop star’s appearance also shared clown memes to express their gullibility.
Usher and Bieber are no strangers to chart-topping collaborations like the remixes of Somebody to Love and Peaches as well as First Dance from early in Bieber’s career. Usher played mentor to Justin, offering guidance during Bieber’s initial foray into the industry.
