Wayne Rooney once dropped a mind-boggling £150,000 to bag an invite to P Diddy’s exclusive bash.
Back in 2006, the ex-England sensation entered David Beckham’s swanky World Cup charity auction, rubbing shoulders with a galaxy of celebs. That night, the scandal-hit hip-hop mogul got on the mic alongside Becks to flog a wild weekend with him in the Big Apple.
Onstage, Diddy announced: “I am in a giving mood. I would like to auction something off, being that I don’t really spend a lot of time here or know the crowd, if you win you get your choice of one of the other. Choice A is a weekend at my house in the Hamptons, fully staffed, on the water in East Hampton, New York.”

“Number 2 is a studio session with me in New York or London, I will produce a record for you and your kids. Or number 3 is a night out with Diddy on a Saturday night in New York, and I promise you your a** will wake up on Wednesday laying beside me.”
The audience erupted as TV funny man Graham Norton set the bidding war in motion. When it was all said and done, United legend Wayne Rooney nabbed the prize, with Diddy throwing in, “Another thing, it is unlimited. You can stay for a long time. This is just the start, this is just the start.”
Inquiring about a plus one, Rooney’s grand £150,000 proposal scored him the nod from Diddy, who joked: “You can bring the whole football team.” Diddy promised Wayne a transformation, saying: “After he comes to New York, we’ll probably be cousins. It’ll be a non-stop party with lots of sexy ladies.”
However, Diddy later claimed that it was Wayne’s wife Coleen, his girlfriend at the time, who put the kibosh on the trip to the Big Apple. The rap mogul found himself in hot water as he was arrested on Monday September 16 in NYC, facing serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges. With bail denied multiple times, Diddy is cooling his heels at the Metropolitan Detention Centre (MDC) in Brooklyn.
Pleading not guilty and denying any dodgy dealings, his lawyer Marc Agnifilo declared outside court on Tuesday September 17: “Mr Combs is a fighter, he’s going to fight this to the end. He’s innocent. He came to New York to establish his innocence. He’s not afraid, he’s not afraid of the charges.”
Amidst the legal drama, the spotlight has swung back to Diddy’s legendary bashes, once the talk of Tinseltown, leaving fans scrambling for the lowdown on those star-studded shindigs.
Legal documents against Combs allege that he manipulated several women into engaging in explicit sexual activities with male sex workers. Other charges levelled against him include kidnapping, controlling their careers, and subjecting victims to verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.
On Tuesday, Texas-based lawyer Tony Buzbee announced he was representing an additional 120 alleged victims who accuse Combs of abuse spanning 25 years.
