1000-lb Sisters star Katie Slaton has tragically passed away at the age of 37, following her battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
Katie was known to fans as the cousin of Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton, whose weight loss transformations form the heart of the popular reality series. Her cousin Amanda Halterman has now confirmed that Katie died earlier this week.
Taking to Instagram yesterday, Amanda shared the heartbreaking news: “It [is] with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this. My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely. She was the life of the [party] and my best friend.”
She continued: “I know both our grandparents and friends was there to welcome you home. Please pray for my aunt uncle and cousins but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong. Please pray for everyone whom loves her. Thank you all who has come out and supported her. #cancerscks.”

The devastating announcement came just one day after Amanda had reached out to supporters asking for prayers. Sharing a photograph of Katie on Monday, she had written: “Please whisper a prayer for our family as we continue to support [Katie]. I am so thankful to be allowed to stand by your side”, reports the Mirror.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Katie, who featured in multiple episodes of the programme, had received a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. A GoFundMe campaign was launched in January, with Tammy helping to promote the fundraising efforts at the time.

In a heartfelt plea to her followers, she wrote: “Y’all I’m so sorry to be asking a big favour like this but if anyone can help even if it’s a dollar I.T. would help my cousin out so much.”
Tammy went on to say: “She has been on my show but this is something new [as] our family just found out about her having cancer.”
The reality TV sensation urged those who couldn’t contribute financially to offer their prayers instead, stating that such gestures would be “greatly appreciated” by the family. Earlier this year, Tammy added in her post: “Any act of kindness is and will be greatly appreciated, thank you so much and before anyone asks yes I’ve donated myself.”
