90 Day Fiance star dies aged 55 after months spent battling horror health issue

A 90 Day Fiance star has sadly died.

Ben Rathbun, star of the reality TV dating show, has died aged just 55.

He passed at his home in Greencastle, Indiana on 19 May as confirmed by a source to TMZ. Unfortunately, Rathbun had been battling stage four stomach cancer and was only diagnosed with the disease at the end of 2024.

According to TMZ, Ben’s last moments were spent surrounded by loved ones. The father-of-four was 52 when he appeared on the US dating show and met his 22-year-old girlfriend Mahogany Roca online.

The pair went on to appear on the spin-off show 90 Day Diaries and revealed they had exchanged vows just a few months prior.

Viewers grew to love Ben on the US dating show

The reality show follows couples who meet on the internet and then apply for a K-1 visa, meaning they have just 90 days to get married.

While Ben’s story was airing, a number of viewers doubted that he would ever meet Mahogany and thought she was catfishing him.

However, the couple proved fans of the show wrong. They met and confirmed their engagement in a YouTube video posted back in 2022.

Mahogany was still with Ben at the time of his death

Ben and Mahogany were reportedly still in a relationship when Ben recently died.

The Instagram page shabootydotcom was the first to break the news of his passing. In a lengthy post, the 90 Day Fiance fan page paid tribute to the reality TV star.

They wrote: “BREAKING NEWS: Ben Rathbun has passed away from cancer today, according to my sources. RIP to Ben and I know this is a difficult time for his family and for Mahogany (who was still with him through these [heartbreaking] times).”

“Sending love and prayers. (Also, keep any and all negative comments to yourself. This is not the time or place).”

Fans rushed to share their condolences as one person typed: “So sad! Cancer sucks so much! Rest in peace Ben. Prayers for Mahogany.”

“Such sad news,” said another fan of the show, while someone else commented: “This is the place just not the time [broken heart emoji].”
