Sofia Vergara opened up about her figure and how it has affected her Hollywood career, admitting her ‘big boobs and body’ have been her ‘passport to the world’
Sofia Vergara candidly admitted that her “big boobs and body” have been instrumental in paving her career path. In a chat with El Pais, Sofia opened up about her physique and its impact on her journey in Hollywood.
Vergara said a few years ago: “It would be absurd to deny it or for that to make me feel bad. On the contrary, I’m grateful for [my] life. My giant boobs and my body opened doors for me; they were my passport to the world when I was 20 years old, when I started as a model, but today I’m 51-years-old and I’m still here.”
The now 53-year-old added: “I am not afraid of [taking a] risk, I work harder than anyone, I have the personality, I have always been aware of what was outside and I have not been afraid. There are women who are prettier, younger and who have bigger breasts and a better body than me, but I’m still around because I have demonstrated that I can stay.”
The A-lister, famed for her portrayal of Gloria in Modern Family, recently took on a very different role in the Netflix series Griselda, playing a ruthless drug lord and mother who establishes a cartel in Miami after escaping from Colombia.
When probed about “when she realised her appearance had an effect on others”, Vergara revealed: “When I was very young, since high school the boys have all wanted to be with me.
“Not that it made me feel any better, but you realise that they treat you differently. From a very young age, I’ve known my strengths and I’ve played them, but if you only see my boobs then that’s your problem.”
The actress also touched on the topic of female empowerment, which she noted is currently “trendy now”. However, Sofia confessed that this wasn’t the case “12 years ago it wasn’t so much”, and candidly stated that “women are not saints” and they’re far from perfect.
Now at 51, Sofia reveals she feels “very fulfilled” and has accomplished “done much more in her career than she ever dreamed of”.
