Ariana Grande’s shocking brain scan reveals the brutal impact of her past trauma after the Wicked actress recently shared pictures from her medical procedure
Ariana Grande has showed her brain scans to the world.
The singer posted a photo of her brain scan to her Instagram followers back in 2019, revealing the shocking impact trauma has had. She attempted a light-hearted caption, saying they were “hilarious and terrifying”.
The pop star’s post compared an image of a ‘healthy brain’ to a brain with PTSD – with a few small areas highlighted. Alongside this, she posted an image of her own brain scan, which had significantly more highlighted areas than the previous image showing a brain with PTSD.
Ariana emphasised that the post was “not a joke”, clearly expressing her shock at how much trauma has affected her brain over time. As per the NHS, PTSD “is a mental health condition caused by very stressful, frightening or distressing events.”
“Someone with PTSD often relives the traumatic event through nightmares and flashbacks, and may experience feelings of isolation, irritability and guilt.”
Fans expressed worry for the ‘Thank U, Next’ singer at the time after she posted her brain scan on Instagram. She later returned to the platform to reassure her followers, reports the Mirror.
In a statement, she penned: “Didn’t mean to startle anyone with my brain thingy. it just blew me away. i found it informative and interesting and wanted to encourage y’all to make sure you check on your brains / listen to your bodies / take care of yourselves too.
“i love science and seeing the physical reality of what’s going on in there was incredible to me. i mean i feel it all the time, but seeing it is totally different and super cool. someday, when i’m feeling ready or when i’m more healed up, we can talk more about it.
“i am constantly working on my health / learning how to process pain (aren’t we all). everyday is different but i’m doing my best.”
She continued: “just know i will continue showing up and giving as much of my energy as i can and do my best even tho my brain looks like a world map. (that’s why her hairs so big it’s full of trauma….. k ariana, log off) love u.”
Ariana Grande has endured a series of traumatic events over the years, including the devastating suicide bombing at her Manchester concert in May 2017 which claimed the lives of 22 people and left 1,017 injured. Since then, her life took a downward turn with the tragic loss of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who took his own life in September 2018.
Amid her “years of hell”, Grande began to open up about her struggles with mental health and her experience with PTSD. In a heart-wrenching interview with British Vogue in July 2018, the singer confessed that she felt like she would never be able to discuss the attack without breaking down in tears.
