Rock album cover artist Ioannis Vasilopoulos – who worked with the likes of Bon Jovi and Deep Purple – has died.
The designer’s family confirmed the sad news in a statement. “We announce with heavy hearts the passing of Ioannis, our beloved artist, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, who has left us for the great beyond,” it said.
“We find comfort knowing that Ioannis is reunited with his father, mother and other beloved family and friends. The outpouring of love for Ioannis and his work is also a great comfort.”
Born in Athens, Greece, Ioannis designed over 350 record covers, singles and merchandise, as well as working on campaigns and creating cover art. His clients included massive acts like Bon Jovi, Deep Purple and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The designer put on several displays of his work during his career. And he was still selling artwork up until his death.

Ioannis helped Away with the layouts for our albums Nothingface and Angel Rat, which left an indelible mark on our band’s visual identity.
