Neil Young’s Glastonbury set will air on the BBC.
The 79-year-old music legend is headlining the festival’s iconic Pyramid Stage on Saturday night (June 28). It was previously reported the Heart of Gold singer’s set wouldn’t be shown by the BBC.
It was believed the singer had asked the BBC not to air his performance, but it seems he’s had a change of heart and decided to let the broadcaster show it. That’s because the BBC have announced they will be showing his set.
A BBC spokesperson said: “We are delighted to confirm that Neil Young’s headline set from Glastonbury on Saturday will be broadcast live to audiences across the UK on the BBC”.

The set will be available to watch on iPlayer’s Pyramid Stage stream from 10pm, as well as BBC Two and Radio 2. Neil’s set is billed to kick off from 10pm until 11.45pm, following RAYE’s performance which finishes at 9pm.
Earlier this week, it appeared Neil wasn’t included as part of the BBC’s scheduling for Glastonbury. Glasto co-organiser Emily Eavis had said she didn’t believe his set would be broadcast and that “negotiations” were going on backstage.
BBC presenter Colin Paterson explained: “I asked [event co-organiser] Emily Eavis what was going on and she says she does not believe that Neil Young’s set will be broadcast by the BBC.

“There’s been all kinds of backstage wrangling and negotiations, but as things currently stand, Neil Young’s headline set on Saturday night will not be broadcast by the BBC. Instead, they’ll be showing Charli xcx.”
A source told the Mirror at the time: “We aim to bring audiences as many performances as possible from the Pyramid Stage, and our schedules and plans continue to be finalised, right up to and during the festival.”
Last year, Neil Young pulled out of the Glastonbury line-up and seemingly criticised the BBC and what he believed was its “corporate control”. In a statement on his website, he wrote: “The Chrome Hearts and I were looking forward to playing Glastonbury, one of my all time favorite outdoor gigs.
“We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in. It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being. Thanks for coming to see us the last time!”
However, he later changed his mind and on New Year’s Day he revealed he’d been fed the wrong information. He wrote: “Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury Festival, which I always have loved.
“Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing. Hope to see you there.”
