A BBC presenter has been taken to hospital after “battling his own body with a health issue” that recently spiralled out of control because he “put off getting proper medical care”
A BBC presenter has been hospitalised following a serious health scare.
Rising star Qasa Alom, known for his recent stint on BBC’s Today at Wimbledon, recently shared a series of photos from his hospital stay including one flashing a peace sign from his hospital bed.
He wrote: “I can’t say the last few weeks have been easy…ever since the middle of Wimbledon I’ve been battling my body with a health issue. I put off getting proper medical care because I just did not want to miss The Championships (error). Eventually, it became too much and escalated.”
The post also included images of a nurse drawing blood and Qasa being transported into an ambulance on a stretcher. In his heartfelt message, Qasa expressed gratitude towards the NHS for their ‘brilliant’ care, reports the Mirror.
He said: “A real wake-up call to all those health-conscious young seemingly fit people out there seeing this,” the star wrote. “No matter how good your VO2 max might be; or what your resting heart rate is…”
“No matter how many chia seeds you eat or interval fasts you can do….things can happen inside of our bodies that you can’t control and it will completely knock you for six.”
“Respect your body and its limitations. We only have one. Grateful to my family for helping me through a difficult period and now the road to recovery.”
Fans flooded the comments section with messages of support as one follower wrote: “Sending lots of love my friend,” while another shared: “So glad you’re feeling better.”
“Ah sorry to hear Qasa, rest up and recover well,” commented one person as another concerned fan typed: “Sorry to hear bro, sending love and light, hope you’re bouncing back.”
Qasa started his BBC career back in 2010 on local radio and soon created a Radio 4 series before swiftly climbing the ranks to become a newsreader for Midlands Today.
The presenter made his BBC1 debut in a half-hour documentary about JRR Tolkien titled ‘Books That Made Britain: Factories to Middle Earth’ in 2016.
