Brad Pitt’s mum dies aged 84 as bond with Hollywood icon remembered

Brad Pitt’s mother Jane Etta has passed away age 84, as her family confirmed the sad news online.

Jane’s death was announced in a heartfelt Instagram post by her loved ones, as reported by TMZ. Jane, a former family counsellor, had a close and supportive bond with her famous son, accompanying him to numerous red carpet events.

Throughout his nearly four-decade-long career in Hollywood, the former Bullet Train star has often spoken highly of his doting parents, describing his mother as a pillar of support. Jane herself also expressed her love and admiration for all her children, including Brad.

In a chat with WorldServe International in 2018, Jane said, “I’m very proud of all my children. They see a need and try to step in and fill it. Whether it’s a disaster in New Orleans [which Brad helped with], or all the things in Tanzania that Doug does do, or Julie’s wonderful, wonderful work in Ethiopia. It’s an amazing thing.”

Brad previously spoke about his mum Jane in an interview and said: “I am just so thankful that my mom was a fantastic mom. She wasn’t a stage mother; she didn’t push me. She was happy if I was happy. We are so different. I was very shy; my mom did all the talking. She was my strength.”

Jane and her husband William live in Springfield, Missouri where they raised their three kids Brad, Doug, and Julie.
