Brooklyn Beckham appeared to snub his famous father David, after the football icon was knighted in The King’s Birthday Honours List – following rumours the pair are estranged
Brooklyn Beckham has appeared to give his dad, David Beckham, the cold shoulder just as the former footballer was honoured with a knighthood in The King’s Birthday Honours List.
The elder Beckham, who recently turned 50, was given the award this year and can now use the title of Sir while his wife, Victoria, becomes a Lady. Even though the Beckhams are usually frequently celebrating their kin’s successes, Brooklyn refrained from posting his congratulations to his dad online, fuelling rumours of a possible strife in the famous family.
Instead, Brooklyn posted photos of pretzel pita chip packs on Insta as his father received his new title from His Majesty. Insiders say David hadn’t filled Brooklyn in on the honour, leaving the ex-chef forced to find out from the press reports.
Meanwhile Romeo shared a fun photo with his dad and captioned the update: “So proud of you.”
Words from a close contact of Brooklyn’s told Page Six was he’s happy for David, but another friend close to Posh and Becks said that Brooklyn’s demanding space: “Brooklyn told his family he wants no contact and he’s not responding to those that try to connect.”
This knightly award came shortly after David being spotted at a glamorous event with King Charles earlier this week.
Before the knighthood became public knowledge, Beckham had been spotted at the swanky King’s Foundation Awards event at St James’ Palace in London.
He dressed up in a sharp navy blue double-breasted blazer, paired with a striped blue shirt and a classy grey tie for the occassion.
In the meantime, Brooklyn, 26, who married socialite Nicola Peltz Beckham, finds himself tangled in family drama. Rumours starting spreading of a family feud when the pair were noticeably absent from Victoria’s birthday party in April and David’s grand 50th celebration in May.
Rumours say that the hopeful chef has told his parents he ‘wants no contact’ with them. Insiders close to Brooklyn told Page Six that he was delighted about his dad’s accolade and knew it meant the world to him.
Yet, another source in the Beckham’s circle told the outlet: “Brooklyn told his family he wants no contact and he’s not responding to those that try to connect.”
But another source from Brooklyn’s life dismissed the rumour, stating: “This seems to be another deliberate attempt to misrepresent the truth, and it only serves to distract from this honour being bestowed on Brooklyn’s father.”
