Brooklyn Beckham’s reasons for ‘snubbing’ David’s birthday as feud reaches boiling point

Brooklyn Beckham has been embroiled in a very public family feud with his famous parents David and Victoria Beckham – here are the reasons behind the ongoing drama

Tensions have reportedly skyrocketed between Brooklyn Beckham and his family, with the 26-year-old giving his dad’s birthday bash a miss after months of alleged disagreements.

The rift is thought to have kicked off around Brooklyn’s 2022 nuptials to American heiress and actress Nicola Peltz, with whispers of wedding planning spats. Sources now hint that the Peltz clan are miffed at the Beckhams for not chipping in towards the couple’s swanky California lifestyle.

This weekend saw the tiff escalate as insiders labelled the Beckhams ‘stingy’, contrasting them with Nicola’s folks who apparently splash the cash on everything, including the duo’s Los Angeles pads. Meanwhile, David and Victoria have been keen on teaching their kids the value of dosh, with Brooklyn even pulling pints as a barista at 15.

However, mates of the couple have leapt to their defence over the financial help from Nicola’s loaded parents, rebuffing notions that she’s ‘spoilt’. A pal close to Brooklyn and Nicola remarked: “Nicola doesn’t deny she’s had a fortunate life, and she’s grateful for it. But she’s also been working for over 20 years, and now writes, directs, and produces her own projects.

“Her parents are proud to support their children, and the idea that this reflects poorly on them simply doesn’t hold up,” reports the Mirror.

Tensions hit fever pitch when Brooklyn and Nicola gave David’s birthday bash a miss last month, despite jetting into London for the event. Rumour has it they bailed after finding out his ex – who was seeing his brother Romeo at the time – would be there.

Brooklyn also snubbed his old man on Father’s Day.

TMZ reported: “Sources say Brooklyn and Nicola were told to show up to the main celebrations or they wouldn’t get a chance to see the family… leaving the two saddened because they simply won’t be around Brooklyn’s brother Romeo and his girlfriend, Kim Turnbull.”

Kim, 24, called it quits with Romeo, 22, amidst the family drama and has since spoken out about being made a “scapegoat” in the ongoing feud. In a fresh chat with The Sunday Times Style Magazine, the DJ and model talked about coping with fame and handling gossip.

She shared: “It’s definitely tough, whatever it is, when people are saying things about you that aren’t necessarily true and, most importantly in my opinion, don’t align with your character and your values.

“You want to turn around and reply to every comment and have your say in it, but at the end of the day you just can’t.”

On Saturday, Cruz Beckham, Brooklyn’s younger brother, seemed to subtly criticise his eldest brother by declaring that the “truth would unfold”. The 20 year old shared pointed lyrics from The Beatles’ 1969 song “The End” to his Instagram Stories, showing support for his parents amidst the family feud.

Fans quickly linked the lyrics to the Beckhams’ ongoing issue with Brooklyn. The lyrics read: “Love you, I love you / Love you, I love you / Love you, I love you / Love you, I love you / And in the end / The love you take / Is equal to the love you make”.

Cruz captioned the post: “The truth will unfold”.

Rumours have circulated that Brooklyn’s purchase of a new home in LA was motivated by a desire to create distance between himself and his parents, who are based in London and the Cotswolds.

However, a source disputed this claim, telling the Daily Mail: “This house has nothing to do with family dynamics. David and Victoria also own property in the US, this is no different.

“Both Nicola and Brooklyn’s careers are based in Los Angeles, and Brooklyn spent part of his childhood there while his father played for LA Galaxy. During that time, he attended school in LA for several years and built a life and friendships in the city. LA has always felt like home to him.”
