Bros legend Matt Goss wants to be next Mayor of London to ‘let grown-ups be grown-ups’

Matt believes his hometown of London has ‘all changed’ since he was a lad and he’d love to change it back and believes he’d do a better job than current Mayor, Sadiq Khan

Bros legend Matt Goss says he wants to be the next Mayor of London.

The 56-year-old When Will I Be Famous? singer – who was born and raised in Camberwell, south London – said he hated how the capital had become.

He said that Sadiq Khan had made it a nightmare for motorists – and that there were never any bobbies on the beat.

Asked about his return to London – after almost 25 years living in America – he said it had ‘all changed’ since he was a lad – and that he’d love to change it back.

He said: “I think it’s appalling that police have been taken off the streets.

“You don’t see bobbies on the beat, getting to know their community. I’m not wanting to bash London in any way, but I don’t see any policing.”

He added: “The joy of a big city is that you should be able to drive around: 20mph speed limits and congestion charges – talk about sucking the life out of a good thing.

“Let grown-ups be grownups. It seems like there are so many little tripwires for people, like you’re going to get fined if you go left, or you use this lane.

“Honestly, I think it’s pretty shameful. I love this town, but going down Park Lane at 20mph?

“In Victorian times, I would have been passed by a horse and carriage.”

Asked what he thought of Mayor Sadiq Khan – who has been in the job since 2016 – Matt said he could do a better job.

He said: “It doesn’t seem like the Mayor of London listens to the people.

“I do think he’s done some good things for this city, but he needs to take some time to go ‘What’s bugging everybody?’

“It genuinely makes me quite sad to see what Londoners get put through.”

He was asked if he would consider running for election, he said “You know what? I would love to be. I would love to be.”

Matt has previously said he’d love to be Prime Minister, saying in 2022: “I want to continue to fall in love with the process of diplomacy and communication.
