DJ Calvin Harris and his wife Vick Hope have announced that they welcomed their first child together last month, and have shared the name they’ve given their baby son
Calvin Harris has revealed that he and partner Vick Hope have become parents to their first child together last month in a touching Instagram announcement.
The DJ, aged 41, and television presenter Vick, 35, celebrated the arrival of their baby boy on July 20 in what looks to be their own home, but have been so immersed in their new-parent bliss that they’ve only chosen to share the wonderful news today.
Posting on Instagram this Monday, the ‘One Kiss’ producer shared the debut photograph of his newborn son whilst revealing the beautifully distinctive name the pair have selected for their firstborn. This follows Hailey Bieber’s rare glimpse of son Jack Blues amidst speculation of a second pregnancy.
Captioning an endearing image of their baby nestled against his father’s chest, Calvin penned: “20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here! My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.”
Within the series of photographs Calvin posted to announce Micah’s birth, it was disclosed that Vick opted for a water birth, with images showing her in a blue birthing pool illuminated by candlelight, reports the Mirror.
The first-time mum delivered her son outdoors on a balcony, with a stunning vista before her as lush foliage and trees formed their backdrop.
Devoted father Calvin remained present throughout the entire experience, staying close to Vick’s side as their son entered the world. One touching photograph captures Calvin crouched beside his partner, apparently mere moments after Micah’s arrival.
The Scottish DJ’s Instagram post also included a startling moment as he shared an image of Vick’s placenta before revealing how the pair decided to preserve it. Based on Calvin’s social media update, it appears the duo opted to have the placenta encapsulated for later consumption.
This method involves steaming, dehydrating, and processing the placenta into pill form for ingestion.
Calvin and Vick managed to keep their baby news secret for as long as they could before revealing their joyful announcement back in late May.
Following several weeks of dropping subtle clues online this year – including sharing photographs from a recent baby shower – Countryfile host Vick eventually confirmed her pregnancy in May.
The expectant star and producer Calvin typically maintain a private relationship but have occasionally revealed small details previously, including their Glastonbury-themed nuptials in September 2023.
Vick revealed that she and the music icon were expecting their first child together during a live Radio 1 broadcast. During the announcement, Vick shared her delightful news and discussed her pregnancy for the first time publicly.
The presenter, who co-hosts the station’s drivetime programme alongside Katie Thistleton and Jamie Laing, informed listeners: “I should say that this is my final week. I wanted to share that with you because we’ve had such a lovely time over the last few weeks. That time is coming to an end for a bit because I’m going on maternity leave next week.”
Former Made In Chelsea star Jamie chimed in with: “You’re an amazing friend, an amazing person, and you’re just going to be an amazing mum.”
Vick then revealed her reasoning behind keeping her pregnancy news low-key.
She clarified: “This is not an announcement, by the way. People keep saying are you going to announce, are you going to announce? And I’m like, I’m not the King. I do not see the point, it’s not for me. I’ll be honest, I struggle with anything that’s personal or private.
“I will tell you a story about eating a kebab out of a bin, that’s one thing. But there’s a line and so I’ve never been that big on sharing. Particularly because I’ve just been enjoying this privately and quietly.”
Calvin popped the question to Vick after just five months of dating during a romantic getaway to his Ibiza farm.
The couple tied the knot merely four months afterwards in a breathtaking ceremony held at Hulne Priory in Alnwick.
Celebrity guests including AJ Odudu, Scott Mills, and Vernon Kay were present for the festival-inspired nuptials. The spectacular celebration featured a dazzling fireworks show and live entertainment from music legends Nile Rogers and Chic.
