Chantelle Houghton was the first non-celebrity to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house and managed to fool her housemates into thinking she was a famous singer
Chantelle Houghton made Celebrity Big Brother history as the first non-famous contestant to waltz into the celeb-packed house and snatch the crown.
The ex-glamour model, who bluffed her way through by claiming she was part of the girlband Kandy Floss, was given a mission to convince the real celebs she was one of them back in 2006.
Chantelle not only fooled her fellow housemates but also charmed the public, walking away with the £25,000 prize pot and triumphing over celebs like Michael Barrymore, Pete Burns, and Maggot.
Post-victory, Chantelle tied the knot with fellow contestant Samuel Preston from The Ordinary Boys, cementing her status as a bona fide celebrity.
With CBB making a comeback this Monday (April 7), hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best have spilled the beans on whether they’d fancy seeing such a game-changing twist again, nearly 20 years on, reports OK!.

Chatting with journalists, AJ dished out: “Chantelle was the only non-celebrity to go into the Celebrity Big Brother house but then ironically she became a celebrity and It was such a transformative experience.
“We don’t know and they could have that spanner in the works. I wouldn’t mind seeing that. There’s always twists and turns with Big Brother.”
Will chimed in: “Yeah she did so well. She wasn’t the world’s greatest singer but back then a lot of pop stars weren’t so it was almost more realistic.
“It just shows how they will always be thinking outside the box. Even last series we had Sharon [Osbourne] as a house guest, that was a never seen before thing so I would be very surprised if there’s isn’t something equally as new and different.”
AJ and Will are still in the dark about who will join the 2025 series line-up, but the rumour mill is churning with names like EastEnders’ Patsy Palmer, Corrie’s Jack P. Shepherd, TOWIE’s Ella Rae Wise, and Drag Race champ Danny Beard reportedly set to enter Britain’s most famous house next week.
Will dropped some hints about what viewers can expect: “We know nothing but you always know every series Big Brother is going to raise the stakes and raise the game.
“Someone may have 20 million followers on Instagram and someone may have 300,000 but once they are in, they are all the same and have to do what they’re told and as we now not every celebrity is used to that but they’re going to have to get used to it.”
AJ added with excitement for the upcoming antics: “Every year you are like ‘oh my gosh these tasks are incredible’. Just when you think they can’t surpass themselves they just do.
“I can’t wait to see all the celebs doing a bunch of silly tasks and un-celeby things. I wanna see outfits, I wanna see costumes, I wanna see it all.”
Celebrity Big Brother returns on Monday, April 7 at 9pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player
