Clarkson’s Farm fans have fallen in love with breakout star Harriet Cowan, and the nurse-turned-farmhand has quickly become one of the show’s most beloved names
Clarkson’s Farm fans are already mourning the end of the show’s fourth series and eagerly awaiting the next instalment. The new season, which premiered weeks ago on Amazon Prime, saw Jeremy Clarkson take on farmhand Harriet Cowan as long-time star Kaleb Cooper set off on a one-man tour across the country.
Far from being Cooper’s stand-in, however, Harriet has become one of the series’ biggest breakout stars, with viewers begging for her to make a return next series. And she’s not just loved on camera – people have been sharing their admiration for the household name when they see her in the street, too.
In her brief but impactful stint on screen, she seemingly saved Diddly Squat Farm from Jeremy’s shenanigans and had to tack everything from pig births, and fence-making to even buying some new cows.
Since the show aired, Harriet has been inundated with support and praise on social media as she tries to promote life to young farmers, which has culminated in some very wholesome interactions while out and about.
Speaking to the BBC she talked about her life farming: ” I think when you talk to somebody and ask what they stereotypically think of when someone says farmer they say ’60-year-old man with a checked shirt and a beer belly’, and a lot of the time that is it, but us women are out here and farmers too.
“Just because I’m a small blonde who likes to curl her hair and wear make-up, it doesn’t mean I can’t be a farmer.
“I’m trying to change the norm of the man being the farmer and the woman being the stay-at-home wife and cook.
“When the war was on, women did all the farming, so we have always farmed – it’s just changing that stereotype.”
Her time on the show already seems to have had a boost to that mission, with Harriet now posting her interaction with a young girl.
Uploading the clip to TikTok Harriet said: “You look happier. Thanks a little girl just came up to me and said ‘I want to be just like you when I grow up'”.
She added in the caption: “This gets me every time, can’t believe it honestly.”
Harriet’s TikToks has already built quite the audience on the platform, exploding from a few thousand followers before the show to now just under 750,000 – in the process clocking up more than three million likes.
Fans have also been quick to share the support, with one commenter posting under the video: “THIS IS WHAT GIRLS NEED – inspired by a variety of fun, clean living, capable, caring, creative, organised, funny young women.”
While another farmer added: “About as good a compliment as possible. Our industry is nothing without young eager people. Well done.”
