The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman has warned fans not to zoom in on her latest snap as she’s undergone eye surgery and can’t sport her trademark eyeliner look
Claudia Winkleman looks almost unrecognisable after getting eye surgery.
The beloved host of The Traitors is famed for her iconic heavy eyeliner and fake tan look. However, the TV star has had to ditch her signature smoky-eye makeup as she’s undergone eye surgery and can’t wear it “for weeks”.
The Strictly co-host, 53, was seen wearing a hospital gown in a candid snap posted on Friday (June 20) after her eye op. Claudia posed next to her eye surgeon, Dr Julian Stevens, at the hospital and thanked him for all of his help.
She looked dramatically different without her beloved eyeliner, but fans needn’t worry as she’ll be able to wear it again once she’s recovered. She captioned the Instagram snap: “This amazing human makes me see.
“He’s operated on my eyes before and he did it again today. No eyeliner for weeks and I sleep in goggles (no words) but I’m eternally grateful.
“Do NOT zoom in on my left eye – it’s wonky. Thank you Julian. I paid for the treatment, this isn’t an ad. I just love him. It’s very possible I’m still a bit sedated. Night, night.”
Claudia’s famous pals and fans rushed to the comments to wish the star well on her recovery, with Gogglebox star Izzi Warner writing: “We still have the costume and Bobby is willing to wear the eye liner for you if you need a stand in Claudia! Happy healing.”
“You look beautiful Claudia,” Drag Race UK star Baga Chipz said, with a fan adding: “He did my eye surgery about 8 years ago! Played rock music as he did it. He told me it would be life changing and he was right. Amazing man!”
Claudia has been open about issues with her eye – including her ongoing battle with chronic eye condition, myopia. She was born with “minus 16” vision and struggles with short-sightedness, meaning she can’t see objects that are far away.
She discussed the eye operations she’s had on an episode of Gabby Logan’s ‘The Mid Point’ podcast last December. ” “I’ve had lens replacement. I’ve had so many operations on my eyes.”
Claudia added: “I had a lens replacement in my left eye because my astigmatism was so bad but I was minus 16, but that was 14 years ago and then I had a little fiddle with but because I was so short sighted by then fixing it I’m now long sighted so I can’t really read anymore. I can with glasses, I’ve got plus 2.5 but I can’t read The Bee Sting with those glasses and that light.
Claudia’s health update comes just daysafter she was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours. The mum-of-threewas honoured on last week alongside her Strictly Come Dancing co-host, Tess Daly, for services to broadcasting.
Claudia said: “I am incredibly grateful to receive this honour. It’s a real privilege to work with extraordinarily talented people and I have only got this because of them.
“So this is for the BBC, the traitors and the faithful, for pianos and for the cha cha. I will buy a hat and am taking my mum. I am ridiculously lucky and will celebrate with Tess by doing a paso doble.”
