Coldplay were forced to halt their Wembley show twice on Saturday night as frontman Chris Martin called in medical and security support for two fans in the crowd
Coldplay were compelled to stop their performance on two occasions as Chris Martin summoned medical and security assistance. The group interrupted their Wembley gig on Saturday evening during their anthem Sparks before bringing proceedings to a standstill once more.
Lead singer Chris grabbed the attention of security personnel as he gestured towards the audience whilst bringing the rest of the group to a halt during their encore. Medical staff and security personnel were spotted making their way into the standing area of Wembley Stadium as a worried Chris watched on.
The audience began to applaud as emergency responders hurried towards the individual requiring help. Prior to continuing with their performance after the situation appeared under control, Chris enquired: “Does anyone else have any medical issues? Diabetes? Anything we need to know about?”.

He succeeded in completing Sparks before a second medical emergency occurred in the audience immediately afterwards. As the stage lighting brightened, Chris quipped: “Oh god, we are making people faint. It’s your fault Guy for being so handsome that’s what it is. Everyone fainting looking at our bass player.”
Nevertheless, Chris adopted a more serious tone as he questioned: “Are you guys okay, come on. We have got you, you are safe.”, reports the Mirror.
The vocalist guided staff towards those requiring assistance as he declared: “I hope you feel better my brother. He is going to look after you pretty well. Okay, alright? You will be safe, just hang out backstage and we will look after you.”
Addressing the packed-out crowd, Chris expressed his gratitude: “Thank you, thank you everybody for taking care of each other. That is amazing.”
Coldplay are currently in the midst of their record-breaking 10-date stint at the national football stadium.
They’ve smashed the record previously held by Taylor Swift and Take That. As part of their Music of the Spheres world tour, they’ve had to make a significant alteration to two of the shows.
The band announced today that their final two dates of the monumental Wembley run have been rescheduled. They cited the Rail, Maritime And Transport (RMT) union members’ planned industrial action on the London Tube from September 5 for seven days, as the reason the gigs scheduled for September 7 and 8 could not proceed.
A statement from the band shared on social media read: “We’re sorry to announce that, due to planned industrial action on the London Underground, we’ve been forced to reschedule our final two concerts of the current Wembley Stadium run.
“Without a Tube service, it’s impossible to get 82,000 people to the concert and home again safely, and therefore no event licence can be granted for the nights of 7th and 8th September.
“To avoid cancelling the shows, our only option is to reschedule.”
The band confirmed the show on September 7 would move to September 6 and the show on September 8 would move to September 12.
Coldplay went on to say: “We’re very sorry for the inevitable disappointment, frustration and inconvenience that this situation causes.”
The group confirmed that gigs on 31 August, 3 September and 4 September will proceed as planned.
Around 10% of the band’s earnings from the Wembley concerts will be given to the Music Venue Trust to help support grassroots UK venues and emerging artists. Additionally, the Wembley performances are being fuelled entirely by renewable energy without any generator usage.
