Comedian shot dead at 52 as family beg fans with heartbreaking statement

Comedian Reggie Carroll has died.

The performer was shot dead at the age of 52 in Mississippi, as confirmed by Southaven Police. Officials have confirmed that the shooting occurred last week.

Police responded to a call and found Carroll had suffered multiple gun wounds – unfortunately the comedian could not be revived.

Reggie’s brother Jonathan took to Facebook to write a touching tribute to the “Knockout King of Comedy” and to beg fans for privacy at such a difficult time.

He wrote: “To all who have expressed condolences on the passing of Reggie Carroll, your love has been well received, thank you!!! Due to the sensitive nature of Reg’s passing, we are asking all to refrain from publicly sharing any details until we confirm all the facts.”

Reggie’s comedian friends have flooded social media with tributes and messages

“If you have posted any details, we respectfully ask that you delete the post. Please share my post to help us spread the word. Thank you all for your understanding and loving support.”

Carroll was best known for his appearances on The Parkers and Showtime at the Apollo. Fellow comedian Mo’Nique took to social media to pay tribute to her friend and wrote: “This is why I say treat people the best you can because you never know if you’ll get a chance to see them again, and the last time me and my brother Reggie, girl, was together.”

Reggie’s brother shared a message to fans on Facebook following the star’s death

“That’s what it was, an amazing time, being on tour together, being on that road together, what a time, so I have no sad tears because all of our time together was amazing.”

Comedy star Loni Love wrote: “Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of my comedy brother… he was a hilarious, energetic and kind soul. Unbelievable… condolences to his loved ones.”
