Suranne Jones has appeared in some of the countries favourite TV shows in recent years, but she has revealed that she could be set for a full 360 moment soon with a return to Corrie
Former Coronation Street star Suranne Jones has dropped a huge hint that she could one day return to famous the ITV soap.
The actress has seen her career go from strength to strength in recent years as she has been in a whole host of the nations favourite crime dramas, including Doctor Foster and her iconic duo with Lesley Sharp in Scott and Bailey from 2011 to 2016.
But before all that, Suranne had originally made her name on Coronation Street in June 2000 when she landed the role of Karen Phillips, a newly created character on the show.
After an eventful few years in Weatherfield came to an end in May 2004, she recently revealed to the Times that she has changed her mind about a return to the soap: “If you had asked me two years after I left the show, I’d have said, ‘Absolutely not. I’m going to do all these things.’ But now it’s 21 years ago, it might be fun.”
In typical soap fashion her time on the street was filled with drama. One of the main talking points during her four-year stint was her relationship with Corrie icon Steve McDonald (played by Simon Gregson).
After the pair had started dating shortly after she had become the latest star to join the cast, the pair would later go on to get married not once but twice.
Their second wedding day lives long in the memories of soap fans after it saw Tracey Barlow (played by Kate Ford) shockingly reveal that she was having Steve’s baby after the pair had had a one-night stand together.
After their second wedding day had taken a dramatic turn, it continued to be a difficult time for Suranne’s character with her never being able to rebuild her relationship with Steve while also sadly suffered a miscarriage.
Her time on the Street finally came to an end on Boxing Day in 2004.
Since then she has become a household name after following in the footsteps of many Corrie actors who go on to make a name for themselves after leaving the soap. She is possibly best known for playing Detective Rachel Bailey in ITV’s Scott and Bailey from 2011-2016.
Over the course of five series, the show followed the professional and personal lives of DC Janet Scott and DC Rachel Bailey as the crime drama sees try and bring murderers to justice.
Coronation Street is set to return this evening (Monday, August 4) at 8pm on ITV.
