Police charge 16-year-old girl and two boys aged 14 and 15 with 49-year-old Alexander Cashford’s murder
This is the man three children are accused of killing with a concrete slab just a mile from Danny Dyer’s new reality TV caravan park. A 16-year-old girl and two boys aged 14 and 15 have been charged with 49-year-old Alexander Cashford’s murder. He was found dead after suffering ‘multiple injuries’ following an ‘altercation’ in the seaside village of Leysdown-on-Sea on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, at 7pm on Sunday.
Police said Alexander was ‘assaulted’ after clashing with a ‘small group of people’. An air ambulance was scrambled but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three teens, all from London, were arrested shortly afterwards and taken into custody. All three have been charged with murder by joint venture and are set to appear at Medway Magistrates Court. They cannot be named for legal reasons due to their young ages.
A 12-year-old girl arrested on Tuesday in Basildon, Essex – 56 miles from the scene of the alleged attack – remained in custody while enquiries continued.
Holidaymakers alleged Alexander was pushed to the ground and had a large concrete slab dropped on his head.
Manager of Quick Convenience store Anton Jasnu, 34, who ran out of his shop to help, saw people trying to perform CPR and said he had tissue on the back of his head which he thinks was used to try to stop the bleeding.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Three teenagers have been charged with murder following the death of a man in Leysdown-on-Sea, Isle of Sheppey.
“It is alleged the victim was assaulted following a disturbance involving a small group of people. Multiple injuries to the man’s body were reported.
“Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Alexander Cashford, 49, was confirmed deceased at the scene.
“A short while later, two teenage boys and a girl were arrested and taken into custody.
“On Tuesday the boys, aged 14 and 15, and the 16-year-old girl were charged with murder by joint venture. The three suspects, who are all from London, were remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates Court.
“A 12-year-old-girl arrested on August 12 in Basildon in connection with the incident remains in custody while enquiries continue. Detectives are continuing to appeal for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to contact them.”
They have appealed for anyone with ‘relevant CCTV or dashcam footage’ to come forward.
The attack happened around a mile from the Priory Hill Holiday Park where ex-EastEnders’ star Danny, 48, and his daughter Dani, 29, have been filming a new TV show from the team behind Clarkson’s Farm.
The Dyers’ Caravan Park – which will show the father-and-daughter running the place – is set to be screened on Sky Max and NOW TV later this year.
