Danniella Westbrook has never been shy of speaking her mind and now she’s reignited her war of words with Ricky Gervais, branding him “rude” after their infamous Twitter bust-up.
The former EastEnders star, 50, was asked in a recent interview about the rudest celebrity she’s ever encountered, and without hesitation she named the After Life creator.
“Ricky Gervais. We had a spat on Twitter. So that was quite rude. I didn’t like that,” Danniella confessed to Daily Star in collaboration with casino.org.
The actress admitted she’s never actually come face-to-face with the comedian, but their fiery exchange online was enough to leave its mark. “I’ve never met him in real life,” she added, before softening her stance slightly: “But I do think he’s really talented, to be honest.”
Danniella didn’t go into detail about exactly what sparked the spat, but fans of both stars will remember the pair clashing on social media several years ago when Ricky made a tongue-in-cheek remark that didn’t sit well with the soap icon.
Their back-and-forth quickly escalated, with Danniella firing back at the stand-up before walking away from the feud.
While Gervais, 63, has been known for his sharp tongue and unapologetically brutal humour, whether on stage on Twitter or at the Golden Globes – but Danniella has also developed her own reputation for not holding back when it comes to speaking about fellow celebs.
It’s not the first time the actress has taken aim at stars she’s clashed with over the years. But she insists her comments about Ricky come from a place of honesty rather than lingering bitterness. “I didn’t like that,” she said simply of their social media spat.
Fans, as always, had their say, with one commenting online: “Danniella vs Ricky, now that’s a comedy special I’d pay to watch.” Another added: “Imagine those two actually meeting, fireworks guaranteed.”
