Eamonn Holmes has opened up about being haunted by nightmares for years.

The 65 year old GB News anchor shared his personal struggles with bad dreams on Monday’s edition of the morning news, amidst discussions that frequent nightmares could be linked to a tripled risk of premature death and accelerated ageing.

Battling chronic pain and health woes, Eamonn’s recent remarks have raised eyebrows among his followers, especially after he mentioned feeling like he’s living on “borrowed time”.

During the segment on Breakfast with Eamonn and Ellie, the ex-This Morning host quizzed his colleagues: “Did you have any nightmares last night? Seriously? Well, you’re for an early death then.”

He delved into the alarming studies about nightmare sufferers before admitting: “I have nightmares quite frequently.”

Ellie Costello, his co-presenter, retorted with a light-hearted comment: “I never do, I want to live forever,” Eamonn then shared: “Do you know what I dream about quite a lot? Vampires. I do!”.

He reminisced about the terror he felt as a youngster watching Christopher Lee portray Dracula, which evidently left a lasting impact. “I think when I was young and I saw Christopher Lee being Dracula, that really left an impression. I thought he was the scariest thing.”

When his co-hosts labelled his nocturnal fears as “niche”, Eamonn disclosed that in these nightmares, vampires are often “coming after” him, reports Belfast Live.

“They’re all Christopher Lee-esque,” he concluded.

He also confessed to having nightmares about his school days, revealing: “I dream about Mr Cassidy who taught me Ancient Greek and asking me the vocabulary in Ancient Greek and knowing I wasn’t ready for it and can’t do it – it’s all very true.”

This revelation follows Eamonn’s concerning health update to his followers, as he’s been spotted using a wheelchair and crutches in public of late.

The telly host, who parted ways with Loose Women star Ruth Langsford last year amid rumours of their relationship suffering due to busy schedules, had a nasty tumble at home that left him thinking he was “dead”.

Eamonn described the fall as causing the “sorest and most powerful” blow to his head, landing him in hospital after the mishap.

“I was very worried about me. [I] fell on the bathroom floor and once I was down, I couldn’t get up,” he recounted.

He detailed how his “feet went up in the air” on the “hard, cold, wet and slippery” bathroom floor.

“It was the worst bang to my head and shoulder,” he added. “I went down and I said, ‘I’m dead.’ I have never had a bang to the head as sore and as powerful as that before.

“I lay there and I thought, ‘Where’s the blood?'” But miraculously, there was no blood, no cuts, nothing of the sort.

Eamonn has been battling chronic pain and mobility issues since slipping three discs in his back in 2021.
