EastEnders’ Cindy Beale’s revenge plot exposed as Michelle Collins set to exit soap

EastEnders villain Cindy Beale has vowed to return to Walford and get her revenge on mum-in-law Kathy and husband Ian, and fans are sure she’ll be back sooner rather than later

EastEnders viewers were left teary-eyed on Tuesday night as the fallout from Martin Fowler’s heartbreaking demise continued. In a surprising twist, Cindy Beale decided it was time to bid farewell to the Square.

However, fans are convinced this isn’t the last we’ll see of Cindy – she’s vowed to exact revenge on Kathy and Ian. It’s been a whirlwind few days for Cindy (played by Michelle Collins).

After two months of sleuthing, she discovered her Christmas Day assailant was none other than her mother-in-law, Kathy Beale. Things escalated when she ‘accidentally’ shot Ian in the arm during a confrontation, and pushed him into the path of Reiss Colwell’s speeding car.

The car swerved and crashed into gas canisters at the Queen Vic, triggering a catastrophic explosion. Cindy herself ended up in hospital after Kathy saved her from being crushed.

Initially, Cindy was hesitant to keep Kathy’s secret in return for hush money from Ian – but the fear of the truth about Reiss’ crash being revealed got the better of her. In Tuesday’s episode, she demanded Ian to “return her stolen money”, reports the Mirror.

Ian agreed to give Cindy ‘her money’ back, with one stipulation – she must vanish. Later in the episode, Cindy gathered the Knight and Beale families and announced that she didn’t feel safe living in the Square with someone who tried to kill her.

She disclosed her plans to stay with Gita and possibly return when she feels mentally stronger.

EastEnders fans are buzzing with speculation after a tense scene hinted at a dramatic comeback for Cindy. As she left the tube station, Junior questioned: “I don’t understand why you’re letting Ian get away with this,” to which Cindy ominously responded: “Oh, no one’s getting away with anything, but I’m just happy to let them think that they have. For now.”

Viewers reckon it’s not the last we’ll see of Cindy – they’re convinced she’s plotting a vengeful return against Ian and Kathy.

One fan took to Twitter saying: “It’s definitely not the last we’ll see of Cindy. Gillian Taylforth teased last week that the story is far from over. I think she’ll be back in a few months with eyes on revenge. #EastEnders”. But what will Cindy’s revenge look like?

In the past, she wasn’t afraid to hire a hitman for Ian, but fans believe she might take a ‘better route’ this time, though it still spells trouble for Kathy.

One viewer suggested: “I’d like for Cindy not to be redeemed, but her villainous side to be put to rest for a little bit. Use the money from the Beales to get her own business and then take over the Albert from Kathy, leading to more feuding scenes between them.”

Another chimed in: “I think they should give her a new route, let her start a business and work on herself,” while another confirmed: “I can confirm I think she’ll be back for revenge. Although it will be some respite that she’s taking a break.”

Michelle Collins made her debut on EastEnders in 1988, and was believed to have passed away during childbirth in prison a decade later. Yet, in a twist of events in 2023, Cindy made an unexpected comeback to the soap, unveiling that she had been living under witness protection as Rose Knight, the ‘missing’ spouse of George Knight.
