Emily Atack has revealed she’s been sexually assaulted by a string of predators in the TV industry.

The Inbetweeners star and Rivals actress claims she was targeted on the sets of multiple shows. She said: “I’ve been sexually assaulted at work throughout my career, whether it’s on the actual set or at a wrap party.”

The mum-of-one added: “Throughout my life I haven’t felt safe all the time.” Emily wants to raise awareness about the dangers of working in TV.

In 2023 she fronted a documentary about online abuse after she became a target for trolls. At the time she told how she gets thousands of vile messages daily including rape threats and explicit photos.

Now she is in talks to make one about keeping stars safe on set. It will focus on the key role intimacy coordinators play.

Emily said: “I’m going to start having conversations about it soon. I’ve seen people roll their eyes about intimacy coordinators and say, ‘I don’t need one’. There’s a defensiveness about it.

“They feel like they’re being accused of something they haven’t even done yet. Intimacy coordinators are there for support if you feel uncomfortable whether you’re a man or a woman.”

Emily has noticed improvements in the TV industry since the Me Too movement in 2017. She said: “It shows that people are listening and that there has to be a shift in behaviour on sets.”

Emily has been impressed by the behaviour she has seen on the set of hit drama Rivals. While playing Sarah Stratton on the Disney+ drama, she hasn’t had any problems.

She said: “I’m really proud of the Rivals gang. We’re all so respectful of each other. We have to do a lot of sexual scenes and we’re very looked after. It’s a really positive thing.”

Emily and her partner Alastair Garner are keen for their son Barney to grow up in a world where women are respected. She said: “I want to raise him to know how to treat women and know his own worth, so he doesn’t feel he has to follow awful men online that are preying on vulnerable boys.

“Adolescence exposed the truth of what is going on in so many homes. We’re a very open book in this family. I want Barney to know he can talk to me about anything – that’s the mother I want to be.”
