Emmerdale fans are convinced that Mackenzie Boyd isn’t truly dead.

Viewers are convinced that the character, portrayed by Lawrence Robb, will make a dramatic comeback to the village. Earlier this week Mack stumbled upon a shocking revelation about John Sugden, played Oliver Farnworth, hinting at his involvement in Nate Robinson’s [Jurell Carter] murder.

This led to a heated face-off where Mack shoved John and made a run for it into the woods. John chased after Mackenzie, armed with a bow and arrow. He let loose an arrow which struck Mack’s chest, causing him to fall.

Upon finding Mackenzie, John insisted he had no other option but to silence him. He picked up a rock and threw it at Mack, seemingly killing him instantly, reports the Express.

As 22 August’s episode kicked off, John was spotted standing in the woods observing a dying fire. He then returned to the cottage and found Aaron Dingle, played byDanny Miller, on his phone and received a call from Mack’s wife Charity Dingle, played Emma Atkins, who is currently enjoying a holiday.

Later on, Aaron noticed John cleaning his van and spotted blood on John’s mirror. In a bid to deflect suspicion, John claimed he had accidentally hit a deer and felt remorseful. Little did Aaron know, John was doing more than just sprucing up his van – he was distracted by the sight of blood on John’s mirror above the wheel.

Returning to the cottage, Aaron failed to notice that John had seized Mackenzie’s mobile phone. To avoid raising alarm, John needed to move quickly to stop Charity from wondering why Mack hadn’t been in contact.

Using Mack’s handset, he dispatched a message to Charity stating he no longer wanted to stay married to her, though fans reckon there might be a shocking comeback twist in store.

Taking to Reddit, one fan penned: “Just to remind everyone of one of soaplands most enduring tropes…No body, no murder/death. Sure we saw something bleeding under the rug, but we didn’t exactly see who it was. Looking forward to the return of the Mack at Xmas!”

Another added: “I’m thinking the same thing. I’d love it if he wasn’t but his injuries were pretty bad before the rock. But then, it’s soap, they’ve pulled things off that are more convoluted, I don’t like his chances, as showing him alive after that would still be gory too.”

A third person remarked: “Mackenzie CAN’T be dead we need a ”Return Of The Mack’.”
