EXCLUSIVE: Eurovision star Sam Ryder has invented a brand new genre for his highly-anticipated second album. Think Cowboy Carter meets John Wayne as he takes a ride into the Wild West
From Eurovision to the Wild West, Sam Ryder is saddling up and riding into uncharted territory for his new music.
The mane-haired star has completed his album after moving to the US and created a bold new genre he calls ‘frontier soul’ along the way.
Sam told me: “I’ve just handed in the album – on my birthday actually.
“It feels like I’ve handed in my homework.
“It took about a year and a half to make, coupled with building a studio and moving to Nashville which was a real dream come true for me.
“Something I’ve dreamed of for a long time and I feel so honoured to be able to make it happen.”
The move Stateside inspired Sam to go full John Wayne: “I tapped into some old influences and songs which have shaped the record and I’m so excited to share it with the world when the album drops.
“The whole vibe of the record is what I’m calling ‘frontier soul’ which encapsulates my love for old western movies and sort of a desert sound, soul music.”
The move meant he was also able to let go of old heartbreak which inspired song OH OK.
Speaking at Amazon’s Prime in a Box event he shared: “I wrote ‘OH OK’ about a past heartbreak of mine but it pertains to anyone going through something similar.
“All of us try to make someone who used to be such an important part of our lives jealous when we move on, because we never really move on when we say we do.”
This year Amazon’s Prime Day will last four days, running until Friday, and the Space Man singer revealed he’s already got his eye on “so much Lego” and he’ll also be stocking up on “quite a lot of saline solution” to ensure his voice is on “top form” for his upcoming Wembley Arena gig.
Or if he gets saddle sore!
Damon Albarn predicted Oasis reunion years ago
It clearly takes one BRITPOP legend to know another after Damon Albarn predicted the Oasis reunion two years ago.
The Blur man has called himself as “prophetic” referring to a 2023 interview where he said he’d “put money” on the Gallaghers reuniting.
Damon told Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, “The Oasis reunion? Two years ago I was prophetic when I said that they would do it and that the road was level. Well, you can’t think that two brothers can’t reconcile, sooner or later. It’s a good thing, the way I see it.”
However, Damon won’t be attending any of the reunion gigs adding: “I’m literally too busy”, as Gorillaz play live and launch their museum this summer.
Noel Gallagher is the real Oasis star as the band receives huge bump in sales
Meanwhile, whilst Liam Gallagher might be Oasis frontman it’s actually a Noel sung anthem that is their most played.
Don’t Look Back In Anger has been revealed, by the PPL which licenses the use of recorded music, as the band’s most played track on UK radio and TV in the 21st century.
It’s followed by Wonderwall, She’s Electric, Roll With It and Little By Little perhaps thanks to Lidl’s advertising campaign!
Oasis are also enjoying bumper physical sales topping the vinyl singles sales for 2025 with Whatever, recently reissued on pink and blue splatter vinyl, the year’s best seller so far.
Morning Glory is at No.3
