With audio gaffes and accusations of underwhelming performances, many fans of the iconic Saturday night took to social media to ask how much talent Britain really has

Fans of Britain’s Got Talent didn’t hold back after tonight’s semi-final, with some viewers labelling it as one of the worst episodes in the show’s history.

While the quality of the acts seemed to rile up some watchers, it was the show’s Golden Buzzer system that really got people wound up online.

Introduced in Series 8, the Golden Buzzer allows each judge to fast-track one act per season to the next round. Some fans argue it’s unfair, particularly for acts performing first or last. One X user called it “a way to rig the final with half the acts picked by [Simon] Cowell before a vote’s even been taken.”

Tensions flared when Simon Cowell said he’d have used his buzzer on dancing magician Jannick Holste, had he not already given it to young rocker Olly Pearson. “

All acts should perform first, then judges decide who gets the Golden Buzzer,” one viewer suggested, while another branded the show “rigged.”

It wasn’t just the buzzer system that wound up viewers, with others having issues with the audio levels on a number of performances. “no one knows if there any good or not because the background music is loud it’s impossible to know if he’s good or bad”, argued one fan, while others complained abut the overuse of backing tracks.

Comedian Will Burns, who received Ant and Dec’ Golden Buzzer in the previous round, also received some heat for his performance, with many claiming his impressions were off the mark.

“This was poor and the jokes were unfunny. ” One user said, “if you have to show a picture of the person you’re impersonating it’s a poor impression.”

“With impressionism, you have to hit the target, and he is really way off on a lot of these impressions” wrote another.

WIll, however, certainly got the last laugh. The 25-year-old finished second in the vote, meaning he’ll have a chance to win round his critics in the Final.

Amid the critiques, some fans are pushing for KSI’s return after his well-received stint as a guest judge earlier this year. Several want him to replace Bruno Tonioli, with one viewer saying, “Anyone want Bruno replaced with KSI or just me? He drives me up the wall.”

Another noted, “I was hoping Simon would’ve brought in KSI for the remaining live shows.”
