The Kids’ Choice Awards, previously hosted by Sean “P. Diddy” Combs in 1998, has come under scrutiny following recent allegations of his involvement in sex trafficking, causing fans to view resurfaced footage with unease.

In a throwback clip, Diddy is seen performing at the televised event, donned in all white alongside matching background dancers. Sporting dark sunglasses throughout his set, he performed his 1997 hit ‘It’s All About the Benjamins’. Mase, who has commented on the controversy, served as a hype man for the performance, also featuring a segment of the song ‘Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems’.

The performance concluded with his dancers sprawled out on the stage, black balloons scattered across the floor, while Diddy engaged with the audience to maintain the crowd’s energy.

A fan expressed their discomfort on Reddit, writing: “This makes me feel uncomfortable now that Diddy won ‘Favorite Artist’ for 1998 Kids’ Choice Awards because of the latest news about him,” Another added, “He is a terrible person I can’t believe he’s not In jail for the rest of his life.”, reports the Mirror US.

Diddy is currently facing five charges across three federal indictments, including sex trafficking, conspiracy racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

The rap mogul Diddy has been slapped with civil lawsuits accusing him of unsavoury antics involving minors. In detailed allegations, plaintiffs point a finger at Diddy’s supposed offering of glittering career advancements in the music biz in exchange for sexual acts.

The hip-hop heavyweight utterly refutes all claims. As these scandalous details emerged, fans felt a sharp twinge of their youth memories sullied. A throwback sentiment was tweeted by one user who lamented, “I remember watching Nickelodeon in the ’90s and how the channel seemed quite fond of Diddy, like he was a favorite with the Kids’ Choice Awards. Knowing what we know now about both Nickelodeon and Diddy, I have questions.”

Tying Diddy’s accusations with Nickelodeon’s past controversies, which were highlighted in the documentary Quiet on Set featuring claims against director Dan Schneider, another added, “seeing diddy at the kids choice awards and the music industry influence on the kids shows. train’s been rolling for a long time.”

The Kids’ Choice Awards make a comeback for 2025, ready to air on June 22 at 1am UK time on Nickelodeon. With categories ranging from pop singers to streamers, nominees include big names such as Pokimane, Ariana Grande, Jenna Ortega, Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter, MrBeast, and Taylor Swift.
