From Taylor Swift to Beyoncé: Brits with celebrity namesakes leave lasting impressions

A survey of Brits who share names with celebrities including Taylor Swift, David Beckham and Beyoncé found that 56% of people say they would never forget someone with a celebrity name

Imagine bumping into a Taylor Swift, David Beckham or Beyoncé at your local pub. Well, some Brits have had the pleasure of meeting folks who share names with these celebs, including James Martin, Ian Wright and Martin Lewis. Other popular namesakes include Hollywood heavyweights like Emma Watson, Tom Cruise and even Jennifer Lopez.

Research suggests that sharing a name with a star makes you instantly more memorable, many admit they wouldn’t be able to resist asking about it and two thirds said they would never forget someone sporting a celebrity name, a third also reckon it’s a brilliant ice breaker.

The study revealed that 13% of those surveyed share a first or last name with a big celebrity. For 70% of these individuals, their famous names are often brought up in conversation, and 23% say they find these encounters amusing.

This research was conducted to celebrate the launch of Blue Light Card’s new ticketing platform. This service offers free and discounted tickets to top-notch events, from gigs to footie finals, as a thank you to our emergency services, NHS, social care sector, teachers and armed forces.

Five lucky ladies named Mrs Carter were treated to a VIP experience at Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter gig in London. The night included glitzy makeovers and a paparazzi-style photoshoot.

Mrs Addy Carter, hailing from Colchester, who has been a military medic for over five years, said: “As a medic in the Armed Forces, I get to help people every day and can be deployed overseas to assist with humanitarian aid at a moment’s notice.”

She added: “Being able to support people with injuries – to make them feel safe and cared for – makes me so happy and proud of what I do. Wherever I’m based, I know I’m making a difference. As part of my work, I also see the incredible effort of NHS staff, which really inspires me.”

Chatting about her recent experience at the Cowboy Carter Tour, she said, “I’ve had so much fun meeting some other inspiring Mrs Carters from different industries and hearing about what they do.

“We got glitz and glammed and treated like superstars for a night at the Cowboy Carter Tour to celebrate the launch of Blue Light Tickets.”

Tarun Gidoomal, CCO for Blue Light Card, said “Our community are superstars. While one Mrs Carter entertains a stadium, ours continue to serve the nation and whether that’s saving lives or supporting their communities, they show up day in, day out.

“Our members told us that they struggle to access live music, with queueing systems and ticket drops clashing with shift patterns.
