Fans couldn’t believe it when a second Fyre Festival was announced and have been waiting for it to go wrong – now the location has been changed and an ex-colleague of the boss begs fans not to go
Fyre Festival went viral after everything that could go wrong, went wrong, leading to a smash-hit documentary series that launched a thousand memes, but now the sequel also looks to be in trouble.
Organisers have ditched the original planned location, and an ex-colleague of the boss has pleaded with fans, begging them “don’t go”. Billy McFarland is back again with the festival, but someone who worked with him has hit out at the event with tickets costing $6,000, saying it is a “scam”.
The location for the event has changed with just months to go, and no line-up has been announced. People are hoping for a car-crash, and it looks like they just might get one with rumours guests will have to “catch their own food”.
Speaking to The Sun, JD Beebe, who worked with McFarland on the first event, has urged people not to spend their hard-earned cash on tickets or the event. JD worked in advertising and helped Billy with his card-based membership club Magnises.
JD has now pointed out the location changes, lack of a line-up or even a set date for Fyre Festival 2, and warns: “I don’t even think there’s been enough promise to go as advertised, so I don’t even know what people are signing up for. I don’t believe that what he said people have paid for is true, he has a long history of stating things that aren’t true, in terms of x numbers, tickets, and this, that and the other.”
“It seems like there’s an event that’s going to happen. But who knows what it’s going to be, you know? I don’t know. Is that a victory, that an event is going to happen?” JD asked. “Is it going to go on as as advertised? No, because he’s advertised nothing.”
It was originally meant to take place on December 6, 2024, but has been pushed back multiple times. The previous event saw people receiving plain rolls with tiny pieces of cheese, and running out of water.
JD warns: “Life is so short, there are so many other things to spend your money and time on,” he said. “Do anything else, just anything else, like anything else that is certain in life.”
“Spend time with your family, Bring, bring your loved one out to dinner who you know is going to be there. That’s what I’d say.”
He thinks people want to see it fail, and that’s the only reason people are buying tickets is out of morbid curiosity: “It’s like you go because it’s a car crash. It’s only to gawk like, it’s not because, ‘Oh, this is going to be fun.'”
He says the best case scenario would be “the artists there are talented artists, and I had a good time and it wasn’t a total disaster, which I don’t believe it’s going to be disaster. I think it’s just going to be run-of-the-mill good time, which is fine.”
