Gemma Collins is reported to be ‘in talks’ to sign up for I’m A Celebrity: All Stars, which is due to hit our screens next year, as the pay day is “too good to turn down”
She’s the diva who’s never far from a headline – and Gemma Collins is set to grab some more as she prepares to head back into the jungle, nearly a decade after her famous early exit. This time, however, it’s a whole different ballgame and there’s serious money (and pride) on the line.
The 43-year-old reality star is reportedly on the verge of inking a contract for I’m A Celebrity: All Stars, the spin-off series being filmed this autumn and scheduled to air next year. Sources suggest the proposition is “too good to turn down”.
An insider reveals to new: “ITV bosses love Gemma because they know they’ll get plenty of drama and some fabulous diva moments. She might not last long – in fact, she probably won’t – but that will make it funny and unmissable viewing. They want her in there, they know the GC is a box office winner. Love her or loathe her, whether she cries, stamps her feet or has people in stitches, she’ll win viewers and that’s what they want.
“Gemma has been keeping a relatively low profile – by GC standards – so she knows this could be a real boost. There’s an awful lot riding on it. Following years of weight battles she has lost two stone recently, she’s in a good place. She’s feeling more confident than ever and has said she can’t wait to show off her body in a bikini on the show.”
But while the hefty payday might seem like a dream – her potential fee is whispered to be £150,000, a stark contrast to the £40,000 she reportedly pocketed for her initial jungle venture in 2014 – it’s undeniable that it carries a significant amount of pressure, reports the Mirror.
The jungle rumours surface following a tough period for the ex-TOWIE star, who last month disclosed that she had to ramp up security at her Essex abode after falling prey to a stalker – an episode she recounted as one of the most “frightening” encounters of her life.
A triumphant return to the jungle could be the lift she’s looking for. But will she be able to endure this time around?
Viewers will recall her fleeting stint in 2014, where she left an impression but also faced backlash when she dramatically exited after a mere three days.
Who could erase from memory her helicopter meltdown, her adamant refusal to consume jungle cuisine and those tearful admissions in the Bush Telegraph? It was quintessential GC and that’s precisely why taking part in the All Stars edition, set to be shot in South Africa, might be a golden chance.
Previously divulging the true reason behind her early departure in 2014, she confessed: “My time was short in the jungle and not many people know that I was robbed and physically attacked 24 hours before leaving for Australia. I didn’t want to let anyone down, so I still went in. However, I was in a terrible state and shock, as you can imagine, and couldn’t see it through.
“I took lots of stick over it, but if you were robbed and attacked and then sent into the jungle, I’m sure you would have struggled, too. I would never let anyone destroy my dreams again.”
