Up-and-coming pop sensation and Glastonbury darling PinkPantheress has disclosed that she’s been barred from every Sainsbury’s outlet in the UK due to an incident involving a nicked Drumstick lolly during her youth. In a fresh interview with GQ, the 23 year old songstress, real name Victoria Beverley Walker, looked back on the unexpected episode from her teenage years, which has followed her ever since.

“My mate nicked a Drumstick from Sainsbury’s, but that’s actually illegal,” she clarified. “I remember thinking to myself like, and we got banned, and we really went through it. I got banned, but I didn’t pinch anything.”

Despite asserting she wasn’t the one who lifted anything, she still received the same penalty: “Given our age at the time, one Drumstick resulting in a ban, it’s a bit much. Because we were banned from all Sainsbury’s across the country.”

The frank admission came as she was promoting her latest single, Illegal – a cheeky coincidence that hasn’t escaped fans’ notice.

Certain glitches

However, her stint at the festival wasn’t without its glitches. An intimate set planned for the day before the festival officially kicked off was cancelled at the eleventh hour, leaving some fans disheartened.

Rumours initially circulated about crowd control worries, but organisers swiftly cleared up the confusion. A Glastonbury spokesperson clarified: “This change was absolutely not as a result of overcrowding fears, the artist was simply no longer able to make this performance. But she is still playing her Woodsies set.”
