Gogglebox legend Shirley addressed fans of the Channel 4 show in a short video posted on Instagram, where she revealed some exciting TV news and one special request
Gogglebox favourite Shirley Griffiths had an announcement for fans.
Shirley and husband Dave have been on Gogglebox since 2015 and the Welsh couple have been delighting viewers ever since. They have now announced that the Channel 4 show is nominated at the National Television Awards (NTAs).
Gogglebox is up for the Factual Entertainment Programme category, where it’s won six times. Shirley and Dave took to Instagram to drum up votes from fans for this year’s NTAs.
She said in a short clip: “Hi everyone, hope everybody’s okay. Just to let you know, the NTAs voting is open. We’d appreciate if you vote for us. Lots of love, Shirl and Dave.” The Gogglebox star signed off by blowing a kiss to the camera.
The couple were inundated with support from fans declaring they’d be voting for them. One fan in the comments wrote: “Yes Shirley and Dave you’ve got my vote.. we love you so much [heart emojis].”
Another fan said: “You got my Vote, hope you are both well [heart emoji] xx.” A third commented: “We will vote for you shirl and Dave… you have us in fits of hysteria every time we watch you xxx”
Last year, fans grew worried that Shirley and Dave were leaving the show. However, they reassured fans that this was not the case.
After jetting off to Dubai for a summer holiday with family, a fan quizzed them on their Gogglebox future. They wrote: “one fan wrote: “Hi David I hear you’re leaving please don’t I think you two are brilliant and funny”.
However, the pair were quick to squash the rumours and reassure their fans. They responded: “No we are not leaving.”
“Phew thank goodness,” wrote one. Another added: “Thank goodness I was about to comment that you can’t leave. You’re both so funny.”
The duo last appeared on the show in May, when the last series ended. However, they revealed they were about to start filming the new series.
One fan quizzed Dave and Shirley on when they are starting filming for the next series of Gogglebox. They wrote: “When you starting filming for gogglebox again @dave_shirl_gogglebox.?”
Dave and Shirley then replied and said: “end of August mate won’t be long.” The follower said back: “Ah mate | cannot wait.”
