Channel 4 favourites the Siddiquis have had a loss in the family and recently issued a joint statement on Instagram informing fans of the heart-breaking news

Gogglebox’s Siddiqui family have suffered a tragic loss.

Fans of the Channel 4 stars have been sharing messages of support after it was revealed that they recently lost their beloved pet cat Rufus. The family shared a joint statement on Instagram to share the news.

“Goodnight our beautiful boy Rufus. 15 and a half years wasn’t long enough, you were and always will be a big part of our lives.”

“The most chilled, cuddly and beautiful boy who made us a family right back at the beginning. Lots of memories that we will never forget and we are truly grateful to have known and loved you. Sleep tight our handsome Boy.”

The family’s fans rushed to the comment section to share their love. One person wrote: “So sorry. They could live 50 years and it wouldn’t be long enough”

Another person posted: “Oh so sorry. It’s such a heartbreak when they leave us,” as a third added: “So sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy. RIP Rufus.”

Others said they are “thinking of the family,” stated they are “sorry for the loss” and that they sympathise. The news comes as the new series of Gogglebox is set to air this Friday [21 February].

Sid, Raza, Baasit and Umar have become fan favourites since joining the reality show back in 2013, almost a decade ago. Earlier this month, the Siddiquis took to Instagram to celebrate Sid’s milestone 80th birthday with a sweet message.

“Happy 80th Birthday to the main man himself @sidsiddiqui38. Lots of fun getting together with the family for a birthday lunch to celebrate. Happy Birthday sang multiple times as we always start too early. Kiddies enjoying one of Grandads birthday gifts….a vibration plate (it’s what he asked for)”

The family also included “some throwbacks of Mr Siddiqui looking very dapper” and assured fans that he is “one of a kind and loved by everyone”. They signed off by saying: “Love all The Siddiqui Gang xxx”
