Gogglebox favourites Dave and Shirley, who have been on the Channel 4 show since 2015, were bursting with pride over their daughter Gemma’s incredible achievement
Gogglebox favourites Dave and Shirley had some exciting news to share with their fans.
Shirley and husband Dave have been on Gogglebox since 2015 and the Welsh couple have been delighting viewers ever since. The duo were proud parents on Wednesday (September 3) when they revealed their daughter Gemma had won an award for South Wales police.
They shared a snap of Gemma, who looked fabulous as she held up her framed police certificate on stage, along with her peers. She was sporting lush red locks, specs and a stylish navy blazer.
Dave and Shirley gushed in the caption: “Our daughter Gemma received an award for South Wales police, so very proud of her.” Their followers rushed to the comments to congratulate them and their impressive daughter.
One wrote: “You both must be very proud of her [heart emoji].” Another penned: “Beauty and brains,” and a third added: “Congratulations! You must all be so proud.”
Shirley recently announced that Gogglebox is nominated at the National Television Awards (NTAs), and asked fans if they could vote for the show. It’s up for the Factual Entertainment Programme category, where it’s won six times.
She said in a short clip: “Hi everyone, hope everybody’s okay. Just to let you know, the NTAs voting is open. We’d appreciate if you vote for us. Lots of love, Shirl and Dave.” The Gogglebox star signed off by blowing a kiss to the camera.
Last year, fans grew worried that Shirley and Dave were leaving the show. However, they reassured fans that this was not the case.
After jetting off to Dubai for a summer holiday with family, a fan quizzed them on their Gogglebox future. They wrote: “one fan wrote: “Hi David I hear you’re leaving please don’t I think you two are brilliant and funny”.
However, the pair were quick to squash the rumours and reassure their fans. They responded: “No we are not leaving.”
“Phew thank goodness,” wrote one. Another added: “Thank goodness I was about to comment that you can’t leave. You’re both so funny.”
The duo last appeared on the show in May, when the last series ended. However, they revealed they were about to start filming the new series.
One fan quizzed Dave and Shirley on when they are starting filming for the next series of Gogglebox. They wrote: “When you starting filming for gogglebox again @dave_shirl_gogglebox.?”
Dave and Shirley then replied and said: “end of August mate won’t be long.” The follower said back: “Ah mate | cannot wait.”
