The hot-headed chef has forked out millions of pounds building his vast collection and loves ragging the top-end motors around the race track with his mates once a year
Gordon Ramsay owns 94 cars that he keeps in a purpose-built hangar.
The 58-year-old telly chef admitted splurging millions on his unique collection of classic and sports motors.
The petrol-head loves taking his precious vehicles out to race each year with a gang of pals.
His favourite is the Aston Martin DB4 which typically commands an eye-watering price tag of £800,000 to £1.5 million, depending on the model and condition.
Speaking on the Smartless podcast, he said: “The majority of the cars we have are all in this incredible hanger that we’ve just built.
“I’m embarrassed about the collection. I’ve been collecting for over 20 years. I think it’s about 94.
“The only way I really get to understand these cars is on the track. Three or four times a year we rent a track out, truck them down there, I bring in mates. Silverstone and Thruxton – Thruxton is the biggest track in the UK.”
Gas-guzzling Gordon struggled to pick his top car, joking: “It’s like saying who’s the favourite kid. I still love the Aston Martin DB4 or the Ferrari SP3 Monza.”
The Kitchen Nightmares star – who has six children with his wife Tana – can scarcely believe he owns so many expensive cars thanks to his television career and his array of international restaurants.
He believes his drive to succeed came from his poor upbringing in Johnstone, Scotland.
Gordon said: “I think it’s growing up in poverty, on a council estate, a sort of deprived area.
“Going to school with holes in your trousers and your mum having to put leather patches on your knees that turned out quite cool. Getting called out by your mates for dinner tickets because you don’t have the money to buy food.”
The hot-headed kitchen king recently revealed he has only dined in his own restaurants twice in 25 years as eating there makes him squirm.
He doesn’t actually enjoy “posh” meals, adding: “All the attention makes me uncomfortable.”
But he still loves making fancy grub for others.
Gordon joked: “I will do sausage and mash with baked beans and make it look like a f***ing three-star Michelin sausage, mash and baked beans.
“I’ll put the beans on one at a time.”
