Musician Robbie Pardlo has died at the age of 46.
The star was lead singer of the R&B and hip-hop trio City High in the early noughties. The group were nominated for a Grammy Award for their 2001 hit, What Would You Do?, which peaked in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Pardlo reportedly died on Thursday (July 17) surrounded by family and friends in Willingboro, New Jersey. No cause of death has yet been revealed – according to TMZ.
It’s reported Robbie’s grieving family members are preparing a memorial service and tribute events, with more details to be released to the public soon. Tributes have poured in for the singer from fans on social media.
One wrote: “Aww man RIP Robbie Pardlo of Hip Hop group City High. This group was a breath of fresh air hearing growing up and their content was high quality.”
Another commented: “City High and LFO was my first concert. I got to run into City High after the show and talk to them for a few. Gonna hit play on Caramel in honor.”

A third penned: “Damn…Life Is Too Short. R.I.P Robbie Pardlo Prayers And Condolences Go Out To His Family, Friends And Fans. I Grew Up Listening To City High.”
Pardlo was in High City from 199 until 2003 alongside members Claudette Ortiz and Ryan Toby. Pardlo initially signed as a solo artist but they later brought in his school friend Toby and Claudette.
Pardlo and Claudette had dated during their school years, but Claudette ended up dating and marrying Toby. They tied the knot in 2004 before divorcing in 2007.
The group only released one full-length album – their self-titled City High, in 2001. The record earned critical praise and also featured the Billboard Hot 100 top 20 single Caramel, featuring rapper Eve.
The trio would go on to split shortly after. Toby said of the split: “We did a second album, it wasn’t as good as the first album, it was a little rushed. There was some turmoil in the group, the vibe and chemistry was off. We decided to walk away.”
After City High, Pardlo went on to join R&B quartet First Take, who worked with the likes of Whitney Houston and Lil Kim. He also featured in a 2010 episode of the A&E series Intervention, which saw him open up discuss how the band’s split led to him becoming depressed and an alcoholic.
Pardlo is survived by wife Anika Pardlo and their two children, Lyric and Chord-Andrew Pardlo.
