Gregg Wallace has a some odd demands for those visiting his dressing room.

His former MasterChef co-host John previously revealed Gregg’s rules: “[As Gregg] ‘Don’t put anything on my table, don’t touch my stuff and stay on the left-hand side of the room until lunch’.”

While on Desert Island Dishes back in 2023, John also admitted that the pair are not as close as many would assume: “He’s a friend, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t go to the pub with him, We’ve both not been to each other’s houses, we just don’t do it.”

According to Gregg’s co-host, he was initially wary of working with Gregg and told the Independent: “In 2005 I was asked to go to an interview about some cooking show and Karen Ross, the boss at Shine, the production company involved, said: ‘I’d love you to do it, but I need to audition people to partner you with’. I had everyone from AA Gill to Oliver Peyton.”

“One day she asked: ‘Do you know a guy called Gregg Wallace? ‘ I had doubts, as Gregg was large, boisterous and loud. In fact, nothing has changed, except no one anticipated the success the show would achieve.”

The duo have reportedly also faced tensions in the past: “We used to argue about things, as we’re both so opinionated. In the first series it was over Thomasina Miers who went on to win that series.”

“Gregg said: ‘There’s no way I want her.’ Then in the second round he said: ‘I want her,’ and I said: ‘You git! How can you despise someone one day then like them?”

John and Gregg were recently let go from their roles on the BBC competition show, but the broadcaster has decided to air the 21st series of MasterChef despite the misconduct allegations.

The show is currently available to stream on BBC iPlayer and Gregg is shown excitedly saying: “Wipe the stoves, get yourselves a clean apron and let’s find ourselves some talent.”

The contestants are then introduced as Gregg welcomes them into the MasterChef kitchen with open arms saying: “This is the start of a brand new competition.”
