Heartthrob Bobby Sherman dies after ‘brave’ health battle as tributes pour in

Former teen heartthrob Bobby Sherman has died.

The musician, who rose to fame back in the 1960s, died after battling stage 4 cancer, TMZ has confirmed. The news outlet said that one of his “longtime friends” revealed that he had died on 24 June at his home in Los Angeles aged 81.

Bobby’s wife Brigitte and his friend John Stamos took to Instagram to pay tribute to the star. Through John, Brigitte announced: “It is with the heaviest heart that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Bobby Sherman.”

“Bobby left this world holding my hand, just as he held up our life with love, courage, and unwavering grace through all 29 beautiful years of marriage.”

She continued on to say that as he rested, she “read him fan letters from all over the world” with “words of gratitude that lifted his spirits and reminded him of how deeply he was cherished”.

“He still found time to crack well-timed jokes. Bobby had a wonderful, wicked sense of humour. It never left him. He could light up a room with a look, a quip, or one of his classic, one-liners.”

She explained that their family “feels his loss profoundly” but also “feel the warmth of his legacy,” which is “his voice, laughter, music and mission”.

Brigitte signed off by saying: “Thank you to every fan who ever sang along, who ever wrote a letter, who ever sent love his way. He felt it.”

“Rest gently, my love. With gratitude and love, Brigitte Poublon Sherman.”

Someone else wrote: “Heartbroken. I’ve been praying for him daily. Condolences to his wife, sons Christopher and Tyler. It’s comforting to know he is free from pain and in the arms of the Lord. Rest In Peace Bobby.”
