Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones’ rumoured romance appears to have fizzled out, as he’s been spotted back on a dating app.
The television presenters, who have been good friends for some time, were thought to be more than just pals after they were seen leaving the BAFTAs together in May.
Despite not confirming their relationship status, they’ve been seen spending time together off set, including a recent spa day at a country club.
However, it seems the brief romance has come to an end. Gethin has been spotted on the celebrity dating app Raya while in Australia, where he’s been following the British and Irish Lions’ tour with a group of mates.
This comes shortly after Gethin, 47, publicly wished Helen a happy 42nd birthday on his Instagram stories earlier this month, fuelling speculation that their relationship was heating up.
A source told Mail Online: “Gethin is on the prowl Down Under which puts the nail in the coffin for his romance with Helen. He’s there with pals but keen to meet other women. There is no way Helen would stand for that if they were together and he has far too much respect for her to even go behind her back. Despite having an increasingly close connection it’s cooled down significantly which is gutting for fans who really wanted them to be together,” reports the Mirror.
Both Gethin and Helen have experienced heartbreak in their personal lives. Gethin’s engagement to Katherine Jenkins ended in 2011, and he has since had a series of brief relationships.
Meanwhile, Helen went through a difficult split from her ex-husband Richie Myler, a Leeds Rhinos rugby player, in 2022.
Helen and Richie, who have three children together, were married for eight years before their separation. They had just welcomed their youngest child, Elsie, when they went their separate ways.
Richie has since started a new family with his partner Stephanie, who is also 35 and has a millionaire father, Andrew Thirkill, who serves as the president of Richie’s rugby club.
When Helen announced the news of their split on Instagram, she left her followers stunned. She shared a heartfelt message, stating: “Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”
In her 2023 autobiography, In My Stride, Helen reflected on the painful experience of her breakup. She described how she was caught off guard by Richie’s decision to leave, writing: “I was in shock. I know that following break-ups, people often say they didn’t see it coming and it sounds like a cliché, but that was me.”
