Huge Emmerdale star ‘leaves ITV soap after just one year’ with explosive exit scenes

A major Emmerdale star is reportedly set to leave the soap in dramatic fashion after a year of his character causing chaos in the village, as it’s the “beginning of the end”

Soap killer John Sugden is reportedly leaving Emmerdale

A huge Emmerdale star has left the ITV soap after a year in the village.

Emmerdale killer John Sugden first arrived in the Dales in August 2024 – and he’s wreaked havoc on his fellow residents ever since. He’s was behind the death of Nate Robinson, who he accidentally killed after drugging him as part of his obsessive hero complex.

He also allowed Owen Michaels to die and then framed him for Nate’s murder. He’s also endangered the lives of many others, including ex-fiancé Aidan who he put back into a coma and Chas Dingle, who he spiked.

However, it seems like John’s disturbing games are finally up, as his actor Oliver Farnworth is reportedly set to leave the soap. According to The Sun, the end is near for villain John who will soon be “exposed for what he is”.

The villain sent ex Aidan back into a coma and killed Nate Robinson

A source told The Sun: “It’s the beginning of the end for John. He’s got away with so much but he’s about to make a fatal mistake that sees him exposed for what he is. Obviously Oliver knew that a character like John had a shelf life and that’s rapidly approaching.

“He’s loved his time on the show but there’s still plenty of twists and turns coming before he departs for good.” It’s said [spoiler incoming] that John is set to kill Mackenzie Boyd in “harrowing” scenes.

It’s said John will be “leaving soon” and that actor Oliver Farnworth knew the villain had a “shelf life”

A source told The Sun: “The scenes are going to be really harrowing for fans to watch. Mackenzie has been in so many scrapes and dangerous positions but this time it looks like he’s bitten off more than he can chew. Viewers will be on the edges of their seats watching what happens.”

It’s said Mackenzie’s actor Lawrence Robb has already filmed his devastating death scene. The source added that there are “huge twists and turns” to come

Oliver teased what’s coming up for his evil character back in April. He said: “There’s lots of big stuff coming up.

“I guess with the web that John’s woven for himself in the back of his mind, he’s anticipating people [will] start [becoming] suspicious, secrets to come out and people to start finding things out.

“He’s probably got a few set pieces prepared in his mind for dealing with all of this, but really what he’s had to do so far is just think on his feet and adapt to situations around him. I’m sure this will all change soon.

“The jeopardy at stake for him now is that he’s got his whole life in Emmerdale Village. He’s got the love of his life, Aaron, he’s got a family that he never had. He does not want to lose all that, under any circumstances. There’s going to be a few battles ahead, I think.”
