Sky Daily has revealed she is considering medical malpractice lawsuit after a botched neck surgery ‘compromised’ her husband’s phrenic nerve, which could have contributed to his death
The widow of former wrestler Hulk Hogan is ‘considering’ taking legal action after claiming a botched neck surgery compromised his phrenic nerve and led to breathing difficulties in the months leading up his death in July.
Sky Daily told the Daily Mail: “We are investigating for possible malpractice. If you have shortness of breath for a long time, that makes you very sick. It’s not something that’s an alarming cause of death. It’s something that wears on you, makes you weak.”
The 47-year-old, who became Hogan’s third wife in 2023, revealed that her late husband’s body is still yet to be cremated after ongoing medical investigations.
“It’s very time-consuming to call, sending in records requests, get approvals, send in the death certificate to get information. We’re currently in the investigatory process for possible malpractice,” she said.
“We will be cremating him shortly as we are wrapping up this medical investigation.”
The allegations about the botched surgery originally surfaced after an occupational therapist, who was at Hogan’s mansion when he stopped breathing, told police that his nerve had been ‘severed’ in an operation.
Daily confirmed that while it wasn’t severed it had been damaged. Daily said the therapist’s claims did not come from “anything he saw with his own eyes”, and that he was only relying on previous medical reports.
“It (the compromised nerve) is not brand new information… everything about his neck surgery has been documented from when he was alive. So there’s nothing that happened right before he passed,” she added.
Daily also took the opportunity to set the record straight about rumours that her husband’s personal physician, Dr. Gerald Fitzgerald, had over-prescribed medication or drugged the star. She denied that Fitzgerald had ever prescribed Hogan any medication and that he had been under the care of the nearby Tampa General Hospital.
“He is being portrayed as some pill popper who drugged Terry, and he died. That poor man never even gave him a scrip,” she continued.
“To me it’s irresponsible to go out and slander doctors.”
The actual operation in question had taken place at a different medical facility, but Daily refused to name any of the doctors involved.
“I’m trying to be respectful of the police department because the police department has been very respectful and very thorough,” she said.
“I have cameras in the house. They’ve looked at all the cameras. They’ve counted all the medicines. They’ve done everything that they would normally do.
“They’ve seen very clear medical records, where it’s just completely obvious how things go. They’ve been very thorough.”
Hogan’s estranged daughter Brooke has been one of those fuelling various theories about her father’s death.
She recently took to social media saying: “FACT: I’ve 100% gotten legit calls from professionals- from police officials to nurses that were supposedly with my dad on the day of his death telling ME I need to see body cam footage and I need to get a hold of the 911 tapes because they supposedly contain information that could potentially shed enough light to change the narrative we/I/everyone’s been hearing.
“Those same professionals feel so passionately about what they witnessed, they have continued to contact me and push me to find specific answers to this very day.
“They are quite literally putting their careers at risk because they feel so compelled to do the right thing.”
Brooke recently got the opportunity to see her father’s body, with the 37-year-old seen visiting the Clearwater funeral home on Tuesday.
The six-time WWF champion’s death was officially recorded as “natural” with the cause being “acute myocardial infarction”, but Daily is convinced that the operation in May had a part to play.
She added: “I know the truth will come out, so I’m sitting back here politely being, like, everything’s being well documented. I know it’s fine.”
