EXCLUSIVE: Daily Star Sunday’s Ed Gleave took on the Bridge of Lies TV quiz and its host, Ross Kemp and admitted the questions were hard and the pressure intense
Being a contestant on Bridge of Lies is not for the faint hearted.
Your Daily Star Sunday was invited to the set to see what it’s like… and it’s one of the most stressful things I’ve ever done.
When you’re watching it at home on the sofa, it doesn’t look that tough. But when you’re on the set with all eyes on you, it’s a very different story. Host Ross Kemp has a knack for making every question sound very dramatic indeed.
The questions are also fiendishly difficult and quite confusing.
I had to take some deep breaths to be able to deal with the pressure. And I wasn’t even playing for real money.
This show should come with a health warning!
Glad I had a bash?
Earlier in the year, our Ed took on another TV show challenge when he had a crack at the BBC Gladiators and challenged one of them at Powerball. Here’s how he got on.
He said: “It’s not easy because the Gladiators are in the way and will do whatever they can to stop you. Standing in the way of me was Steel – 6ft tall, he won the title of the UK’s Fittest Man in 2020.
“I knew I would struggle to get past him, and my attempts to simply outrun him failed. But I soon found that making him laugh was a pretty good strategy.
“Every time I cracked a joke, he got a bit distracted and pretty soon I was managing to swerve him. By the end of the game I had managed to get two balls in the pods and racked up four points.
“Crucially, that was more than any other competitors. Steel admitted: ‘That was the most I’ve ever run in Powerball’.
“We were literally doing laps of the stage. It’s the most I’ve sweated.
“You were making me laugh the whole time. I switched off and that’s when you got a goal!”
“I used similarly crafty tactics when I faced Bionic at the iconic game of Duel, too. Instead of risking getting battered by a well-aimed Pugil stick, I managed to convince him not to try.
“For 60 seconds I whacked him while he stood still – and he barely flinched. There’s no doubt the new crop of Gladiators are in peak physical condition.
“But if you have some tactics up your sleeve, it’s possible to beat them!”
