Michael McIntyre made a surprise appearance, incognito, at the WWE event held at Manchester’s AO Arena on Tuesday evening (August 26). The city centre arena was packed with fans for the WWE Road to Clash in Paris event, which saw wrestling stars touring major cities including Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.

However, during the event, the 49-year-old BBC star took to the stage in disguise alongside another man. The pair were introduced to the audience as the Manchester Maniacs, making their wrestling debut.

They faced off against two professional superstars known as New Day, and emerged victorious to thunderous applause from the crowd in the jam-packed venue.

It was only after the match that their true identities were revealed, as camera crews also made their appearance. The event was being filmed for a segment on McIntyre’s Big Show, broadcasted on the BBC, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Two brothers, Charlie and Dexter from Blackpool, then joined them on stage. Michael had been wrestling in disguise alongside the boys’ father to raise funds for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, which saved Charlie’s life when he fell ill with sepsis as a young child.

A surprise segment followed, recorded as part of the comedian’s roadshow, with a generous donation of £10,000 made to the hospital by the show and WWE, according to fans.
