Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack uttered ten poignant words during his father’s funeral.

The Black Sabbath rocker’s memorial took place on 30 July and throngs of fans gathered in the streets of his birthplace, Birmingham, as the star was laid to rest.

Although the funeral itself was private, fans were given the opportunity to pay their respects during a procession down Broad Street in the city. Ozzy’s family joined the procession in a car, with wife Sharon Osbourne visibly upset as she concealed her face.

Surrounding Sharon were their children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, who were also distressed as they comforted their mother and each other.

Lipreader Nicola Hickling has revealed what was said during a whispered exchange between siblings Jack and Kelly. According to Nicola, Jack said ten sweet words to reassure his older sister: “Come on now, Dad wanted us to celebrate his life,” reports the Mirror US.

Jack and Kelly gained fame in the early 2000s when they starred in the MTV reality show The Osbournes alongside their parents. Their sister Aimee, who was also present at Ozzy’s funeral, chose not to participate in the show instead preferring to lead a private life.

Ozzy died just weeks after his final performance in Birmingham at the start of July. Back to the Beginning festival was promoted as the star’s farewell gig and marked the first time in two decades that all members of Black Sabbath – Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler – performed together.

During Ozzy’s funeral procession, local ensemble Bostin’ Brass performed a brass rendition of Ozzy’s hits Iron Man and Crazy Train. Fans could also be heard chanting in tribute: “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy! Oi, oi, oi!”

Before the funeral Birmingham mayor Zafar Iqbal issued a statement describing the War Pigs vocalist as the “son of Birmingham.” He stated: “We’re going to pay our last respects and homage to one of the greatest living legends of Birmingham. He put Birmingham on the map. He put Aston on the map.”
