Former talkRADIO presenter James Whale has been living with terminal kidney cancer and has been suffering with swollen legs which have been “leaking” as his remaining kidney fails
Broadcaster James Whale has recorded his final interview, a poignant conversation with Reform UK leader Nigel Farage in his garden.
The columnist, who is bravely living with terminal cancer, was pictured in a rare photo on X, wrapped in a yellow blanket and donning a sunhat as he warmly patted Nigel’s elbow.
Despite his illness, James looked remarkably cheerful, wearing a crisp white shirt and sporting a hint of stubble. However, the bruises on his hands and bandages on his feet served as a poignant reminder of his ongoing health struggles.
In a recent podcast with his wife Nadine Lamont-Brown, James candidly discussed his failing kidney and the resulting swelling and “leaking” in his legs.
Nigel Farage, seated beside James, was dressed in a smart dark blue blazer, blue shirt, and vibrant pink trousers, complete with striped socks, as he chuckled at James’ words. The heartwarming encounter was captured by TalkTV’s executive producer Chuck Thomas, who shared the photo on social media.
Chuck’s tweet read: “Filming Whaley’s last interview with Nigel Farage. The bravest man I know. A legend and a friend,” reports the Express.
Fans quickly rallied around James, with one admirer commenting: “A warrior to the end.”
Another fan praised: “What a legend, love this guy.”
A third supporter wrote: “God bless him! What a broadcasting legacy.”
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: “James is so loved and respected by so many.”
Later, James was joined by his long-time co-star Ash Gould, who took the chair beside him. Chuck playfully joked on X: “James and Ash reminisce about their 30-year partnership in late night radio. The problem is neither of them can remember anything.”
The producer ultimately revealed: “After 50 years in broadcasting, Whaley delivers one of the most compelling and profound conversations of his career. A masterclass in asking the right questions.”
